Showdown in the Badlands has been officially revealed! What's more, Blizzard has dropped a massive patch with updates to almost every facet of the game, and have announced they'll be giving out a free pack, redeemable in the in-game shop, each week for, well, even they're not sure for how long! Here's the gist of it:
- Each week, starting today, you may claim one free pack per week from the in-game shop.
- This week's pack is a Standard pack, but subsequent weeks may have a different offering.
- We don't know how long this promotion will last, but their use of the phrase "get into the spirit of the season" may indicate it could run all the way up to Christmas.
Yup, it's real!

I find it funny there's an additional confirmation prompt when redeeming the pack. Why yes, I'm pretty sure I want free stuff 😅
But are you really sure?
That's probably an artifact of the way the shop is coded - maybe it was never coded for exchanging something for 0 currency, so you still need the confirmation :D And the non-confirmation part of the system only works with gold transactions.
If they want to bribe me to visit the Shop, this is a great way to do that.
Free stuff yay!
Microsoft is being awfully generous compared to Activision 🤔
I might have to start bringing back friends to Hearthstone if this behavior continues 😬
