Nintendo's latest Partner Showcase just dropped earlier today, reminding people of a number of existing titles, while also making some unexpected announcements along the way. We'll highlight the most interesting ones, but we'll also have the whole thing below for you to watch. Let's get into it!
Grounded and Pentiment
Following the announcement that 4 Xbox games will go to other platforms, we got confirmation for two of them during this event. Grounded is coming to the Switch on April 16th, supporting cross-play between all platforms, while Pentiment will drop on the console on February 22nd.
Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist
A game set in the same world as the critically acclaimed metroidvania Ender Lilies, Magnolia will see players once more take control of a little girl as she explores a dark and dilapidated world while fighting all sorts of eldritch horrors. Once you defeat a boss, it'll join you as a sort of apparition, lending its power to you to help on your journey.
Epic Mickey: Rebrushed
A remake of the first Epic Mickey title on the Wii, the game sees you take the role of the titular Mickey Mouse as you try to escape a world of painting that Mickey accidentally gets thrown into. The game is primarily a platformer, where you'll use your paintbrush to create various platforms, solve puzzles, and fight enemies.
Monster Hunter Stories
Speaking of remakes of older games, we have the first Monster Hunter Stories coming to the Switch, as well as the PC and PS4. Unlike the mainline series, Stories is a turn-based RPG where you can tame and hatch various monsters, bringing it closer to Pokemon in gameplay. The new version will include new models and add voice-over to the games, and will release sometime in the summer.
Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection
A re-release of the first two (non-EA) Star Wars: Battlefront games. It includes the two original games, some new levels and areas, as well as multiplayer modes. It arrives on March 14th for the Switch, PS4, PS5, and presumably PC.
Penny's Big Breakaway
A 3D platformer from the creators of Sonic Mania. Traverse the world as Penny, using her Yo-Yo for all sorts of platforming stunts in this colourful game. The game is out now on Switch, PS5 and Steam for 30 USD or your regional equivalent.
Nintendo Switch Online Update - 5 Rare Games
Nintendo Switch Online subscribers are getting 5 games from Rare:
- Battletoads in Battlemaniacs (SNES)
- Killer Instinct (SNES)
- SnakeRattle n Roll (NES)
- R.C. PRO-AM (NES)
- Blast Corps (N64, only via the Expansion Pack)
Endless Ocean: Luminous
A scuba-diving series from the Wii era, Endless Ocean hasn't seen a new game since 2009. Luminous will be the first new entry in the series in 15 years, and looks to be a fairly zen experience where you explore the ocean blue. It will arrive on the Switch on the 2nd of May.
