Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Arrives in 2025 - Official Announcement Trailer Debut

Nintendo has been teasing us about a new game in the Metroid series for what feels like 10,000 years and today, that wait gets a date. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is coming in 2025.

Samus Aran makes her return in the newly named game, now sporting a "Beyond" suffix. The above trailer features a first look at gameplay and it feels very classic Metroid Prime! We've got Sylux causing a load of trouble, scanning, missiles, lock-ons and the best of the best, the Morph Ball.

As far as graphics go, is this thing seriously running on the Switch? It isn't the crispiest of games but it feels very next-gen for Nintendo hardware which begs the question: Will this be enhanced on the Switch 2? Not much more is known right about the game, so dig into the trailer if you haven't already.

  • Oh yeah I completely forgot Nintendo Switch 2 might release next year, meaning The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom may be stuck on a last-gen platform. Hopefully they don't do that!

Either way, this looks really cool and I'm interested in jumping back into Metroid. I still have an unopened Metroid Dread case I've been meaning to play...eventually.

    • I suspect most games that are first-party will have enhanced performance on the Super Switch. If not, that would be a huge disappointment!
