Yesterday, TikTok was banned in the US, and it looks like some other apps were caught in the crossfire. The one of interest for us is Marvel Snap, which a number of Reddit US users on the west coast have reported can't play the game anymore (If you're on the east coast: Good morning! How's your day going?). This announcement came as a surprise to everyone, as there was no announcement of the game being affected by the TikTok ban, despite Second Dinner being published by Nuverse, which is owned by Bytedance, TikTok's owner.

If you're wondering why Second Dinner didn't announce this was going to happen, it seems they were as blind-sided as the users. Both the official Twitter account for Second Dinner, as well as game director Ben Brode have stated they weren't informed about the ban and are finding out about it at the same time as everyone else. For now, the best thing players can do is wait and see how the situation will be handled. Also check Nuverse's official site to see if you're palying any of their other games.

I wish my country banned tik-tok too. At least it seems they did it properly in the US, i.e. targeting the main company not just the app.
Hopefully Snap resumes soon. It's a collateral that shouldn't have happened. Now it's high time to change the publisher.
Regis' livelihood just got torpedoed in the crossfire. Not to mention everyone else who was reliant on Snap and/or TikTok 😧
