It's my birthday, boy! Or it will be soon, as the 22nd of March will mark the 20th anniversary of the God of War series. Debuting on the PS2 with the original God of War game, the series would prove to be the new gold standard in terms of hack and slash action, although the newer entries have distanced themselves from those roots. 

As part of the celebrations, Sony if giving us a lot goodies both for Ragnarök and in the real world. First off, there's the Dark Odyssey Collection, named after the working title for the original GoW. This is a free update for both the console and PC versions of Ragnarök, and includes a new Kratos skin inspired by the one you got by beating GoW II on God Mode, armour kits for Atreus and Freya, and weapon and shield skins. Those are launching on the 20th of March.

Next is a Fan Kit, which includes all sorts of icons, banners and wallpapers for various social media platforms. You can download them by accessing this link (this will initiate a direct download). On the 20th, a number of items will be added to Steam and PlayStation to personalise your profile. There'll also be an artwork exhibition between the 15th and 23rd of march at the Gallery Nucleus in Los Angeles, California.

Now for the physical items! We have (date in parentheses represents when pre-orders go live):

  • A 2-volume retrospective chronicling the development of the God of War series over its 20-year life-span (March 17th).
  • A set of art prints from the Cook and Becker art dealership (March 18th).
  • A Jörmungandr plush with a hidden sleeve behind its head and a miniature leviathan axe that attaches to its tongue via magnets (March 19th).
  • Vinyls from Laced Records consisting of a 13-disk vinyl set containing all of the series' soundtrack (March 20th).
  • Shirts with golden logos for each game in the series (March 21st).

Finally, there's the sales. The two latest games are available on all platforms on sale (and for free on PS Plus Extra and above) and you can get God of War III Remastered on PlayStation (though it's not discounted, and it's also on Premium). Here's the deals:
