After yesterday's short tease, Hearthstone's YouTube channel just posted a video detailing the game's next expansion. Titled "The Lost City of Un'Goro", the setting isn't a surprise, but a good number of the stuff in the trailer is. Let's get into it! Update: You can now check out Blizzard's news post on the matter.
Quests Return
Seeing as the Quest mechanic was introduced in the original Journey to Un'Goro expansion, it was only natural they would return for this one. Those are regular Quests (so not Questlines) that give you a minion in hand. So far, we know the quest for Shaman and Death Knight, as well as the reward for the former. We're also getting cards that help Quest decks. Update: We now have the Death Knight Quest Reward.
Judging by Ashalon, it looks like Adapt is also making a return, though it's unclear if it's only for a few cards like this one or in a more substantial manner.
Elise Returns
Elise returns in the form of Elise the Navigator, a 4-mana 3/5 that lets you craft a custom location (similar to Kazakus, or Ignis, the Eternal Flame) if your deck started with 10 cards of different costs.
New Keyword: Kindred
The new keyword for the expansion is Kindred, which gives cards a bonus effect if you played a minion of the same type or spell of the same school on the previous turn. Seeing as there are some cards that also encourage a menagerie playstyle (as we'll see in a bit), we can probably expect some new amalgams this expansion as well.
New Cycles: Stories and Maps
We have two new cycles of cards coming this expansion. First, there are Stories, which are spells with effects based on the Quests of the first Un'Goro expansion, and there will be 7 of them. Then, there are Maps, which let you discover a card, then give you another one of the options if you play the first one that turn.
Freebies + Other Cards
The free card of the expansion is Endbringer Umbra, which you'll get by logging into the game. Then, you'll get Blob of Tar for free from the shop. Finally, Disolving Ooze and Sharp-Eyed Lookout will be given later via an event.
Finally, we have four cards that were revealed and didn't fit neatly into the other sections: Tortollan Storyteller, Paleomancy and Ancient Pterrordax.
Important Dates
The expanion launches on July 8th, with a pre-release brawl on July 1st. There'll also be a new cinematic on June 26th.

Comments
So, Adapt returns, Quests return, Elise returns, we have a new card cycle based on the OG Quests and the expansion keyword is like the Elemental synergies that were introduced in Un'goro.
Damn, I expected nostalgia bait, but not this much 😂
This isn't nostalgia baiting, this is nostalgia netting (like a fishing net).
So new expansion...bit early this time round. Like around a month too early. Not sure why, but can only hope its not a slow pivot towards 4 expansions per year.
My comments on the cards and expansion:
Video felt like they were revealing new Allied Race for WoW instead of a Hearthstone expansion.
Tortollans would be a great playable race tho.
I'm sure there is a lot of Elementals from past expansions that will be given Kindred retroactively. There are many that have the text "if you played an elemental last turn..." and that seems a shoe in for getting Kindred.
Huh, missed that the effect is basically the same. Though, unless they make Kindred an evergreen keyword (which is possible), I doubt they'll give it to old cards.
Who had the bright idea to make Paleomancy so bad?
This is a card that of mine from 2 years ago and that I won a comp with. No one complained about the balance at all.
Its the new hearthstone design philosophy now. Trying to design lower power level cards seemingly so they dont keep breaking wild and keep standard interesting. Because let's be honest, its designed entirely with the quest in mind. On its own, its unplayable shit.
I like yours because the condition of spending 5 corpses is entirely the reason why its only 1 mana.
Wow, that's quite the power discrpancy. Especially when compared to Omega Assembly, though that card gets online a lot later. I guess they thought 1 mana to get 3 cards was too much, though I think it would've been fine at 2.
It's probably powered-down because it's designed as Quest synergy.
