Dino Crisis 1 and 2 Have Been Ported to Steam - Save 50% Until February 26

So how was the State of Play? A big one, right? In spite of the scale of the event yesterday, I know of a sizable audience that very well may become more hyped by what Capcom has just released right now.

The first two Dino Crisis games have been ported to Steam. Originally released for the PlayStation 1 in 1999 and 2000 respectively, both Dino Crisis games were Capcom's attempt at making a similar IP that used the same basic gameplay structure as the Resident Evil series, and both games were constructed by the same team. While they didn't reach the critical success of Resident Evil, the franchise has always had somewhat of a cult fanbase. Depending on whom you ask, people may tell you that the series deserves just as much love as its more mainstream cousin. Indeed, Dino Crisis 2 is an icon of my childhood. I specifically remember watching my brother play through the whole game and the adventure has stuck with me.

On January 2025, both games were ported over to GOG with support for modern hardware. Yesterday, the GOG version was ported over to Steam. Interestingly, GOG are actually credited as co-creators of the game.

While this isn't the first time that GOG have been part of the development process of a Steam game, both games are the very first instance of Steam crediting GOG on its website for involvement. Even though the two businesses are rivals competing for the same industry, it seems that there's still a level of respect in their crediting.

To celebrate the occasion of these cult classics being brought over to Steam, you can get both games for 50% off until February 26. Best act fast if you're interested in seeing the more prehistoric cousin of Resident Evil. Do note that the Steam version includes a DRM, the "Engima Protector". If that bothers you, the GOG version is still available without the DRM.

You can buy the first one here, and the second one here. Even though the game pages don't have links to them, you can also buy the soundtracks for the first one here, and the second here.
