New Star Fox 64 Release For Nintendo Switch 2 Announced

After lots of rumors and speculation, Nintendo has announced that a new Star Fox project has indeed been in development. Shigeru Miyamoto and Yoshiaki Koizumi announced the new project, simply titled Star Fox, on a new Nintendo Direct.

Koizumi noted that the game is based on Star Fox 64. This could mean that it's simply a higher-definition remake of Star Fox 64 for the Switch 2, or it could be something building off of that game.

Either way, it comes with its own modern amenities such as a challenge mode featuring all of the stages of the game with their objectives to make life a little bit harder, and online multiplayer mode with the Switch 2's "Gameshare" feature, and the ability to use the joy-cons in mouse mode for aiming. This can even done with two players to allow one person to fly and the other to gun.

Koizumi even demonstrated a feature that tracks your movement and moves your character's HUD icon to match that movement.

The game launches on June 25.
