Gog Adds Support for Romanian, Hungarian and South African Currencies

Good news for those using Romanian leu (RON), Hungarian forint (HUF), and South African rand (ZAR)! GOG, the storefront that built itself on offering DRM free titles, is now offering the three currencies mentioned as a payment option. I can't speak for South Africa, but Romania and (most likely) Hungary were both using Euros to buy games by default, which meant you'd pay more if the value of the Euro went up. Same for other currencies.

Furthermore, this also allows publishers to price things cheaper for specific currencies. CDPR already seems to take advantage of this, as can be seen from the image below. Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition is currently 147.75 RON, which translates to about 28 euros, while the previous price was 37.59.

This is a great pro-consumer move, and hopefully more currency will follow. Now just waiting for Steam to support RON and HUF (they apparently already support ZAR).

Just a guy with opinions video games who decided to share it with everyone against their will :P. I specifically like single-player games and card games, though usually not what's most popular at the moment.

Out of Games is an independent gaming site. Read about how we cover games.
