Path of Exile 2 Goes Free to Play for the Weekend to Celebrate Return of the Ancients

Published an hour ago by

A brand new expansion arrives today to Path of Exile 2, 0.5.0, and with that Grinding Gear Games is opening things up and allowing anyone to play!

Whether you want to give it a try on PC, Epic Games, Steam, or Xbox, Path of Exile 2 will be free to play from May 29 through June 1. This free weekend gives you access to all the content that is currently available in Path of Exile 2, including the brand new Return of the Ancients expansion, so it's a great time to give the game a shot.

Earn Cosmetics During the free Weekend

All players who play during the free weekend can unlock two cosmetics by reaching different thresholds in the game.

  • Ezomyte Rune Scars Character Skin - Get to the Clearfell Encampment

  • Candlemass Portal Effect - Defeat Count Geonor at the end of Act One

How to Play Path of Exile 2 After the Free Weekend

If you want to continue playing after the free weekend is over for Path of Exile 2, then you can do so by obtaining an "Early Access Key", or, you can wait for the full release of the game, which has no date, which is when the game will become free to play.

There is some good news though! After the new expansion and league launches today, Early Access Keys will be available at a 50% discount for the following two weeks! Buying a key also gives you 150 points for the in-game microtransaction store (normally 300 when it isn't discounted).

You can find the supporter packs for early access over on the official website or on the storefronts for your launcher. If you are a PC player, we recommend going through the official website because Grinding Gear Games gets the full monetary value instead of giving platforms a huge cut. Console players, you must go through your storefront on Xbox or PlayStation.

If you aren't sure whether or not you have early access already, you can login to the Path of Exile website and check it within account management.
