Escape from Violet Hold Card Reveals - Day 1 [Finished]

Published 3 weeks, 1 day ago by (Updated 3 weeks, 1 day ago)

We've got the new Hearthstone expansion, Escape from Violet Hold announced, with the new Prepare mechanic and some new card cycles like "Disguised" cards that can be played on either side, and "rulebreaker" Legendary cards that mess with the rules of the game in weird ways.

With how hectic things can get, especially with the State of Play that just happened, it's a good idea to keep things organized. Here is a run-down of every card that was revealed on Day 1.

The new Prepare mechanic allows you to drag a card with Prepare to your deck to spend your remaining Mana and then subtract that much from the card's Cost plus an extra 1 Mana.

  • I do wish they'd just hire somebody to present the cards when they make these videos because when the devs do it they are incredibly awkward, takes a bit of the excitement out of the presentation.

    • I can agree with this. A lot of the devs in a lot of games are a bit too awkward about presenting, and hey, there's a damn good chance I would be too since being on camera isn't my thing.

But I do understand that its a strong message to put out there, having the team communicating with the audience. This is really what community managers are meant to be doing though... The community is supposed to use them as a liaison to the development team and there's supposed to be that central spot of communication to really exchange the pool of ideas between the two.

I love unfiltered devs, but we've also seen from at least the Hearthstone side of things in more recent time, that they are anything but unfiltered.

Dean Ayala who left to go to Riot was awesome. He gave us so many insights that we had never seen before. He was an amazing community person and developer. His wife, Molly, was on the Hearthstone and later Overwatch community teams before she left to go to Second Dinner and every time I had the opportunity to speak with her about things her communication skills were so on point and she was a wonderful person to talk to. Blizzard lost one of their greats when she left, but Second Dinner was also a great opportunity.

Those two are a game dev power couple I swear. If they were to make something on their own, they'd really nail the community aspect hard which is the most important thing in indie game development. You build a community, you win the game. I just lost the game.

      • Yea Dean was good but we all know Brode was born to hype up expansions. Still can't believe they can't find one decent actor starving for work especially where they are located on the cheap.

Somewhere out there is the Liberty Bibberty of hearthstone.

        • Brode was definitely one of the top hype men in video games. He was always a welcome sight during the 3x a year they let him out of the Blizzard cage lol.

Ben of the Booming voice for a reason. His presence as the BlizzCon announcer was definitely missed! I love that they gave him a Pandaren tribute npc in World of Warcraft Mists of Pandaria all those years back
