It's the end of an era! (really not liking how often that quote can be used nowadays) Nintendo just announced that the Switch 2 is getting a revision with a user-replaceable battery, and, buried in the FAQ for that article, there's a note that the Nintendo Switch (the original) will cease being sold in the EU starting February 2027.
Specifically, the Switch, Switch OLED, Switch Lite, Switch Pro Controller, Pokemon GO Plus + (yes, that's its name), as well as the Nintendo Store-exclusive NES, SNES and Mega Drive controllers, will no longer be sold in the EU starting mid-February. Of note is that the original Joy-Cons will still be sold with a new revision.
This is likely because of a new law (detailed in the article liked above) that requires user-replaceable batteries. Nintendo probably didn't see it as worth it to make a new revision for a console that has been on the shelf for close to 10 years by that point. That's one hell of a run for any device. While it hasn't been confirmed yet, it's possible the console with stop sales in other regions around the same time.
