Palworld Warns Players to Fully Remove Old Mods Before 1.0 Launches Tomorrow

Heads up, Pal tamers - Pocketpair has issued an important warning ahead of Palworld's big 1.0 launch tomorrow: if you have old mods installed, you need to fully remove them now to avoid crashes and corrupted save data.

In a new Steam post, the studio thanked the modding community for their work so far and said it can't wait to see what players create after 1.0.

Why do I need to remove my Palworld mods?

The 1.0 update makes significant changes to Palworld's underlying systems, and Pocketpair warns that leftover mods - especially ones installed since around 2024 - can cause real problems once the update goes live.

According to the studio, if you still have old mods installed, you may run into:

  • Crashes when launching or playing the game

  • Corrupted save data, or save data failing to load

  • Quests or events becoming impossible to progress

Isn't disabling mods enough?

Nope - and this is the key part. Pocketpair stresses that simply turning mods "off" or "disabling" them is not enough. The mod files and mod loaders themselves need to be properly removed to steer clear of trouble.

Please Note! Simply turning MODs "off" or "disabling" them is not enough.

So before you jump into 1.0, it's worth taking a few minutes to clear out any old mod data you might have forgotten about - your save file will thank you.

  • Oh wow, it seems rare for game companies to actually give people a heads-up that their mods will break when an update comes out. Normally, they just have to fend for themselves and hope for the best.
