Xbox Celebrates 25 Years of Play With Community Designs, a Game Pass Retrospective, and a Global FanFest Tour

Xbox is celebrating 25 years of play, and today (August 3, 2026) the company shared a fresh batch of ways to join the party, including community-created console designs, a new profile badge, curated Game Pass collections, and the full FanFest Tour schedule. As Xbox puts it, the mission that started it all is still going strong.

25 years ago, Xbox set out to bring players together through the games and worlds they love, and today, that mission is still what drives everything we do.

What community designs are available?

To help mark the milestone, Xbox is partnering with two creators from its community, Klobrille and Ben Kenobi, to publish a collection of gamerpics, backgrounds, and a dynamic theme for Xbox consoles. It is, in Xbox's words, by the community, for the community, and it is available today. Xbox says these designs reflect the connection between players, creators, and the games that bring everyone together.

Here's how to make these designs your own:

  • Console - Gamerpic and Theme: Settings, then Profile, then Customize profile, then choose your favorite.

  • Console - Dynamic background: Settings, then General, then Personalization, then My background, then Dynamic background.

  • Xbox app on PC - Gamerpic: Open View Profile and select the pencil icon over your current Gamerpic.

  • Xbox app on PC - Theme: Open View Profile, then Customize profile, then choose your Theme.

How do I get the 25th Anniversary badge?

Beginning today, players who sign in to their Xbox account on console, PC, or the Xbox mobile app will receive the Xbox 25th Anniversary profile badge, arriving ahead of Xbox's 25th anniversary on November 15. The badge will be available through the end of 2026 and can be displayed on your profile.

Which games are in the Game Pass collections?

Xbox is bringing a specially curated celebration of its history to Xbox Game Pass, with collections that gather memorable games from legendary franchises across each generation, playable on console and/or PC. That means classics from the original Xbox alongside favorites from Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Highlighted titles include:

  • Fable Anniversary

  • Halo: The Master Chief Collection

  • Fallout 4

  • Psychonauts 2

Xbox describes it as a special tribute to the games that shape its 25 year legacy, with much more included beyond those names.
