Well, we've got some bittersweet news for anyone counting down to No Rest for the Wicked: on September 1, 2026, Moon Studios announced that the game's full 1.0 release has been pushed to March 2027 on PC and PlayStation 5, meaning it will no longer arrive in October 2026 as previously planned. The studio broke the news explaining what the extra runway will buy the team, and sweetening the deal with extended Founders Pack eligibility and a wave of community beta tests.
Release windows for the Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 versions are still to be determined. In the meantime, No Rest for the Wicked remains available to buy on PC via Steam Early Access.
Why is No Rest for the Wicked being delayed?
According to Moon Studios, the added development time is all about polish. The team says the extra months will let them improve gameplay performance, tighten up the class system, and get the game to the standard it deserves. Creative Director Thomas Mahler shared more in a new community video posted to the Moon Studios YouTube channel.
Moon also plans to keep the updates flowing through its ongoing Wicked Inside video developer diaries, where the team digs into design decisions, content updates, and how they're tackling development hurdles - part of the transparent, community-first approach that's kept No Rest firmly in the ARPG conversation.
What's happening with the Founders Pack?
Here's some good news if you were worried about missing out. Moon previously offered a Founders Pack of special in-game items as thanks to early buyers, with an original cutoff of July 10. That cutoff has now been moved to January 1, 2027 for PC players, and anyone who bought after July 10 is being retroactively included. PlayStation 5 pre-orders will begin in January, letting those players earn the Founders Pack then, too.
The Founders Pack includes:
A New Secret Hideout: Spirit Cavern - a hand-crafted home that bridges both worlds and brings the legacy of Moon Studios inside No Rest for the Wicked.
Sayer's Vow - an all-new sword in the stone that only early adopters can extract in the game world.
A Custom Founders Tag - so players are clearly identified as early adopters.
Exclusive Public Beta Test Realm access - reserved just for Founders, even after the 1.0 launch.

What is No Rest for the Wicked?
No Rest for the Wicked is the celebrated action-RPG from Moon Studios, the same team behind Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. It blends dark storytelling, painterly visuals, and best-in-class soulslike combat and RPG design.

Players take on the role of a "Cerim," a member of a holy order imbued with mysterious powers, tasked with destroying the Pestilence - an ancient plague consuming the island of Isola Sacra, itself already a site of great political upheaval and death. You can collect and craft weapons and items, upgrade your character and personal homestead, and play your part in an epic tale of bloodshed and bravery.

Since launching in Early Access, the game has been supported with multiple major updates, including co-op multiplayer, PvP duels, and expanded combat possibilities.
