I'm a little early, but January can't go away soon enough lol. Not gonna go into more detail than I already have: suffice to say, it sucked.
At any rate, in terms of games I'm currently looking to play, I've got two plates spinning: I bought Eternal Strands on a whim, and I'm currently downloading Marvel's Spider-Man 2 because as we've already established, I'm impulsive.
Eternal Strands is like Shadow of the Colossus meets Immortals: Fenyx Rising, but with some cool additions. You utilize Frost, Fire, and/or Gravity powers to overcome challenges, and the game is quite rewarding of creativity: you can make a dragon fall from the sky by freezing its wings, or create a gravity-pocket and set it off as you jump on it to launch yourself into the air. My favorite thing so far has been the crafting system, of all things: I usually don't care much to craft stuff, but Eternal Strands is nice enough to let you Reforge your items with better materials really easily, and nothing is lost. All of your used materials go right back to your inventory if you swap them out; it's really convenient. This is balanced by inventory-management while you're out in the field, but I'm okay with that - the challenge of the game would be snapped in half if you could just hoover up everything you wanted.
As for future stuff, most of the games I'm looking forward to come out in the late-March/April window. February is pretty lean - for me at least - although I do have my eye on Avowed. Never played a Monster Hunter game before, so while I am semi-intrigued by MH Wilds, I'll probably pass on it.

While doing the Weekly Challenge in GT7, I somehow managed to run two entirely identical lap times back-to-back (laps 4 and 5).
EDIT: And by the way, CastrolTomsSupra is not my PSN name, even though I wish it was. The game has you make your own driver name.
In my case I am going with Hades/AC Origins/Payday 3/Vermintide 2/Age of Mythology Retold... Going wide this month but on short sessions though and I am tempted to play Megaman Battle Network 2 from my Legacy Collection, but only time will tell.
Also will probably have lots of tabletop action as I have a long stay visit here and together with my wife we are 4 are home that is also the reason I only play a little bit every time.
February's been all about Hogwarts Legacy for me so far at home. Yeah, I know I’m late to the party, but it’s been a cozy escape. Not sure what's next, maybe Elden Ring if I'm feeling masochistic.
But yeah at school I am enjoying retro bowl and minecraft so far...
I'm still into Path of exile 2. Maps are hard and i seem to have hit a gear or build wall on the frost sorceress. Very odd. There's also little better gear for what i want to play. I'm hoping the game is not designed to force me into certain overpowered builds with certain unique items. If that's the case i'm uninstalling. Not reached that point yet though; still having some hope and getting better at dodging.
Just saw Humankind is free on Epic. Thinking about buying all the dlcs and retrying this game.
Civ 7 is also on the radar but all the changes seem lackluster and bad. Instead of creating an actual AI and making empire interaction/diplomacy something realistic and diverse, they did a stupid console port and stole the age system and implemented it badly (by forcing the age change). Imagine having an AI that learns from how people are playing and adapting its strategy based on the civ the human player picked, the victory conditions and/or an option of actively trying to stop the player winning (over its own agenda). Wouldn't that be awesome? Tough luck, we get the same stupid AI and forced age changes and console ported UI and little depth of mechanics. I'll never pay for this shit game considering it's mostly a reskinned civ 6 and costs a lot (even without the future dlcs).
Squeezing out a win in Civ 5 to commemorate Civ 7 releasing today.
I do realize that a better player could've definitely beaten it much faster, but I say that our enjoyment of the game should not be judged on being super optimal at everything. And this is still something I only got into last year.
Just a quick update. Got into Vampire Survivors this month (really late to the party) and damn it is really good!
There is some dead time in my life right now every morming so I will probably play it on that moments by remote desktop :D
