Sidequest Update - October 31, 2026

Fieldfall

  • Fieldfall is November's season, running November 1 to November 30.

  • The season currency is Acorns. Crabapples are this month's throwable, and throwing one has its own little apple animation.

  • The Hayloft is the Fieldfall shop. It has the Hedgerow Wreath avatar border, the Fieldfall Hay Bale for your shop shelf, the Harvest Sack for extra bag slots, Crabapple Baskets, and a Fieldfall Bank Upgrade, all for Acorns.

  • The Hayloft also has the Fieldfall Golden Sheaf, an animated avatar border for 100 Platinum. Autumn leaves tumble around a frame of golden wheat while a light runs along the sheaves.

  • The Fieldfall season pass has two daily challenges, seasonal challenges, and rewards along the way, including Battle Stew, crafting patterns, the Fieldfall Dusk profile header, the Keeper of the Fields title, and a Crow critter for your shop.

  • Complete the pass to earn the Crowfeather Dice, crow-black dice with wheat-gold numbers that burst into black feathers when you roll them.

  • Fieldfall is the November gathering season, so ore, logs, forage, fish, and the new stones and herbs all sell for Acorns.

  • The camp stores are back with fences, gate spikes, a smokehouse, salted stores, and The Long Table. Donations still pay Gold and feed the camp.

  • New foes arrive during Fieldfall, and fighting them pays Acorns and Crabapples on top of the usual rewards.

Class Levels

  • Every class now has its own level, separate from your site level. Your site level still works the way it always has. You'll see both, like "Site Level 40" and "Warrior Level 12".

  • Everything that earns you site XP also earns class XP for the class you're playing. Every class starts at level 1.

  • Class levels go to 20 for now. More levels open in later updates.

  • Leveling a class makes you stronger in all your main stats, most of all your class's own.

  • Class levels show on the Sidequest hub, your character sheet, each gear set, and your profile.

The Assassin

  • The Assassin is the fourth class. Assassins use dexterity, wear leather, and fight with daggers and rapiers.

  • Assassins can dual wield. Any dagger or rapier fits in either hand, and with a second blade you strike again with your off-hand after your attacks.

Talents and Abilities

  • Every class has a new set of abilities, with new ones unlocking as your class levels up.

  • Every class has a talent tree. Each class level earns a talent point to spend. Find them on the new Talents tab on your character, or follow the link when your class levels up.

  • Pick talents, then confirm. Right-click a talent to take back a rank you haven't saved yet.

  • Your first talent reset for each class is free. After that a reset costs Gold, and the price goes back down if you leave it alone for a while.

  • The ability bar has 8 slots for each class.

  • Talent rows past the current level cap stay on the tree with their level in gold, so you can see what's coming.

  • Every class ability now has its own pixel art icon.

Turn-Based Battles

  • Fights are now turn-based. Meet a foe, then take turns using your abilities, potions, bandages, and food until one side falls or you get away.

  • Your 8 abilities sit on an action bar under the battle. A smaller bar above it has Items, two quick slots, Wait, and Flee. Hover or long press an ability to see what it does.

  • Every fighter has a nameplate over their head with their name, level, health, and status effects. Every status effect now has its own icon, in battle and on boss pages.

  • On desktop you can use the number keys for abilities, I for Items, W to Wait, and F to Flee.

  • Quick, decisive wins can earn a CLEAN or AWESOME stamps, and each one rolls extra loot.

  • Battle results show your class XP bar filling up, and a level up gets its own fanfare.

  • Foes above your level are tougher. Your hits against them do less damage, and they can land crushing blows. Foes below your level miss you more often.

  • Battles can't drag on forever. After many rounds, foes become Enraged and hit harder every round.

Bosses

  • Boss battles are turn-based too. On a boss's page, Battle starts your own turn-based fight against the boss, whose health is shared by everyone fighting it. Automate plays the fight for you using your first four ability bar slots, then shows you how it went.

  • During a fight you can see the boss's shared health, the round, how many people are fighting right now, and a feed of what everyone else is doing.

  • You still get your free swings each day. After those, each bout costs 20 Energy.

  • The Battle Stew now fully heals you and restores 50 Energy.

  • Boss fights are tougher, so a bout now pays one and a half times the XP, Gold, and loot of a fight at your level, on top of the boss rewards.

Battle Dice

  • Every hit you land now rolls a pair of percentile dice that decide whether it crits. They're 3D on devices that can handle it and flat on the rest.

  • Roll a natural 100 and it's a SUPER CRIT for huge damage, with its own stamp and a shake of the screen.

  • Multistrike Rating is a new stat on gear. It gives your hits a chance to strike again for extra damage.

  • The new Dice tab on your character shows the dice sets you own. Pick the set you want to roll in battle, and everyone in the fight sees your dice.

  • Buy more sets in the new Dice collection in the site shop.

  • PRO members get a Die of the Month. November's is the Scarecrow Dice, which shed leaves as they roll. Every PRO member gets it on the 1st, and you get it the moment you become PRO. It's yours to keep.

  • Everyone who completed the Oozefest pass has the Ooze Dice, which drip goo while they roll and wobble like jelly when they land. Earning the Boss Hunter achievement gives you the Hunter's Mark Dice.

Stats and Gear

  • Crit, haste, dodge, and the other percent stats on gear are now ratings. The higher your level, the more rating you need for the same effect, so gear keeps needing upgrades as you level. Stats already on your gear were converted.

  • Stat tooltips now say what each stat does in plain words. Haste now means more turns in battle.

  • Gear now has a class level requirement. Gear above your level can stay on, but it goes dormant, shows "Requires Level" in red, and adds nothing until your class reaches that level.

  • There's a new Off-hand slot. Warriors can use a shield or a two-handed greatsword, greataxe, or maul. Mages can use a two-handed staff, or a wand with a tome. Archers get quivers.

  • Equipping a two-hander moves your off-hand piece to your bag, and the tooltip warns you before you click.

Trinkets

  • You now have two Trinket slots. The first opens at class level 5 and the second at class level 10.

  • Trinkets have their own battle effects, plus a few small stats. Some are for one class only.

  • Trinkets drop from creatures and can be crafted with Engineering. Workshop recipes show what each trinket does before you make it.

Construction and Building the Town

  • Woodworking is now Construction, with carpentry, masonry, and a kiln. Its workshop is the Builder's Yard, and Hollis Timberjaw is now the Master Builder.

  • Five community buildings are going up at the same time: The Starloft, The Bubbling Kettle, Hearthside Infirmary, The Proving Grounds, and The Gearworks. Each one has five levels, and every finished level switches on a boon for the whole community.

  • Donate materials to the building you want. There's no vote: whichever building fills up fastest gets built first. Every building's first level opens for donations on launch day.

  • Find the buildings under The World, Projects in the Sidequest tabs, or Building the Town on the hub. "Your stuff can help" lists the items you hold that a building wants.

  • A building only shows what it will become until its first level stands. Workshops waiting on a building are hidden until it's built, and once it stands, the building's page lists who works there.

  • The Bubbling Kettle brings Alchemy to town. The Gearworks opens a workshop for Engineering with Fizz Ratchet, Chief Tinkerer.

  • New potions, vigor tonics, and bandages work as battle items.

  • Beast Bone finally has a use. Boil it into Bone Glue for Construction, and a few early rings need it too.

  • Creature loot now follows your level, so stone, ore, herbs, and parts drop at the tier you're fighting.

Herbalism

  • Herbalism is a new gathering skill. Herbs moved off Foraging and now come from Herbalism, creature loot, and new herb spots in the World.

  • It works like the other gathering skills, with its own timer. Rarer herbs open up as your Herbalism level rises.

  • The Journal has a new Herbs section, and there's a new herb-gathering achievement ladder that ends with the Master Herbalist title.

Discovery

  • Items nobody has found yet show as ??? everywhere, with no name, art, or link, until someone finds one.

  • Be the first to find an item and you get a notification and the credit for it. The first player to craft an item gets credit too.

    • This might not be a thing forever, just testing it out.

  • A creature's drop list shows the drops players have found and how many are still undiscovered.

  • New finds show under Recent discoveries on the hub, with a daily roundup on Discord.

  • Two new achievement ladders: Pathfinder, for being the first to find items, and Cartographer, for being the first to find where they drop.

Events and News

  • Sidequest events can now run bonuses like double XP, double monster drops, extra Gold, or more gathering. A banner under the Sidequest header and a strip on the micro menu show what's running and when it ends.

  • Live events and new Sidequest articles now post to #sidequest-news on our Discord.

Fishing

  • Six new fish bite anywhere: the Romanceable Roach, Neverwinter Nightfish (only at night), Mind Flayer Flounder, Meatbag Mackerel, Grey Warden Grouper, and Shepard's Snapper.

Journal

  • Your Journal's rarest find is now the top-rarity find the fewest members have.
