Why the PC Date Is the Real "Launch"

When people say Warframe "came out," they almost always mean the PC version. That was the original release, and every later platform is a port of that same game. The original Warframe came out officially on March 25, 2013, on PC only, with open and closed betas running before that global release.

So if you want one date to remember, it's March 25, 2013. The PS4 release later that same year is a close second, since Warframe was a launch window title for the PlayStation 4, arriving November 15, 2013 in North America and November 29, 2013 in Europe.

Can You Play With Friends on Other Platforms?

Yes. Warframe added crossplay and cross-progression so you're not locked to whichever version you started on. Cross Platform Play, also called crossplay or cross-progression, lets players from different platforms play together in the same game instance, and it's fully active across platforms.

One thing to know if you're returning: the old account-merge tool is gone. Cross Platform Save lets you use one account's progression and items across multiple platforms, but the older Cross Platform Save merge feature was retired on January 17, 2025. If your accounts are already linked, you're set.
