Sorry everyone, little late on the update - 8 new cards added!
What are y'all thoughts on the modal dual-faced cards? Flop or playable?
Some are absolutely going to be super power houses. The blue counterspell will likely be a staple in most mono-blue decks. Some of them are great tools to avoid dead draws. I think you'll see a lot, though many of them for specialized decks.
Sky Ruins is yum. Great way to reclaim a board. Think it's too hefty in cost for mono white unless it's a heavy control deck, possibly with the new auto-win angel card.
You put them in replace of lands in deck building and it just gives you a ton more action. Any non-aggressive deck I can see wanting to run these because typically doing more things is better than doing fewer things. the only scenario where I can see these not being great is if the meta is fast enough where decks can't afford to bolt themselves with one of the mythic lands or just can't afford to have the land ETB tapped. Aggro decks definitely won't want to run them aside from the aforementioned bolt lands, but like any control or midrange deck is going to be running them for sure.
Feels like the value will mostly be in the non-land side, with the land side being a bonus. Looking at the Sept. 5 reveals for example, Jwari Perturbation looks a bit like Censor, but with the land replacing the Cycling(1), which depending on the deck could be anything from a good trade to terrible. Blackbloom Rogue seems reasonably statted, and is a Rogue which can fit in the new Party archetype.
I suppose it is just possible that if you ran enough of these you could run a couple fewer actual land cards, but entering the field tapped is a thing, so I'm not sure how far one should take that idea.
They're going to be playable without a doubt - it helps alleviate mana screw and flood.
A lot of equipment interactions being shown but not a lot of equipment.
I am pretty excited to play Forsaken Monument in my Ugin the Ineffable Brawl deck.
Wayward Guide-Beast is incredibly interesting. Always great to see cards that have a bunch of diverse applications without feeling like it'd be too oppressive/required to run in a deck.
