Magcargo I choose you!
I love the cute turtle, but the corrupted version is borderline nightmare. I don't think the card effect is bad either.
Begone all Secret lovers!
I so LOOOOVE how Corrupt feeds into control archetypes!!!!!!!!!
The artwork and name don't really communicate the effect. At all.
My guess is that the Mage is the person running the ring toss. The opponent now has to make several attempts to get a ring around the peg as they test for which Secret has been played.
Admittedly very abstract, but the metaphor holds even better when you consider that most carnival games are rigged (the Secrets are discovered, not random).
Yeah I dont get it. Kinda annoying for a card that will see play.
Yeah at first I was thinking that the different colored rings indicated other class secrets (similar to the Shadowjeweler Hanar art), but this only discovers Mage secrets right? Plus, there's no blue colored class secrets obviously.
Seems like a card we will see a lot of. No one will run it, though.
Definitely in the ring for the Ultra Cutie bingo square
Especially the Corrupted version.
Wild secret mage must be very happy with this card!
Not really, since you need to Corrupt it before being worth a slot in Wild Secret Mage.
Currently, the only activators are Aluneth and Cloud Prince, which makes the card quite clunky.
On the other hand, Arcane Keysmith is seeing no play in the archetype despite being around the same card.
I'm not saying the card is bad (I actually think it is pretty damn strong), but just that it is not likely to be included in Secret Mage.
Discovering secrets in mage is already powerful enough, and now there's an option to do it twice for 4 mana. Its just insane value, not to mention the amount of headaches it will cause.
Will it make it into competitive though? Maybe if highlander mage comes back. Otherwise there would need to be a whole new archetype for mage, since I'm not thus far convinced it can slot into the current tempo mage.
The neverending Joy of randomly generated Mage Secrets continues.
... At least the Art is cute.
The whole point of Secrets is that they are supposed to be hidden information. If it were easy to know exactly what every Secret is, it would defeat the purpose. That's why they keep making cards that generate random or discovered Secrets.
If they really want to keep printing Secret-generating Cards, then they should downscale the Powerlevel of Mage Secrets imo.
Normal Secrets are fine since, although hidden, you can predict what Secret it is based on the Deck you're facing, and therefore play around it better. But with random ones, you have to, more often than not, throw out Resources just to see what you're dealing with. And given the Powerlevel of Mage Secrets (Counterspell, Netherwind Portal, Explosive Runes, Potion of Polymorph,...), that can backfire severely!
That and the Fact that Mage can generate them so frequently, is just frustrating to deal with.
Arcane Keysmith, anyone?
This one's better in Reno Mage imo
Arcane Keysmith is better in curve and also provides you a body. With Ring Toss you have to first corrupt it making it "unplayable" at its full power until turn 6. They work different.
