Seems like the uncorrupted version is "ok card", 5 mana 5/5 ds is ok.
But the corrupted version it's really strong.
By The Holy Light!
I don't really think that this will see much play. If paladins want to summon 8/8 divine shield taunts, they will probably just use a libram package, and even then the libram package is not great. Could be strong if y'shaarj ends up being core to an archetype of its own, but I'm getting more doubtful about the existence of corrupt synergy cards other than y'shaarj.
This post is discussing the wild format.
With this and Hammer of the Naaru, I think it's becoming obvious that Team 5 is pushing a N'Zoth, God of the Deep deck for Paladin. So far, that deck has Carousel Gryphon, Hammer of the Naaru, and Fleethoof Pearltusk of which the weapon can help corrupt the two corrupt cards. Since there are a few corrupt cards in this N'Zoth package, I wouldn't be surprised if Y'Shaarj, the Defiler warrants an inclusion in this package as well. All I'm saying is don't sleep on the potential synergies this and the other aforementioned cards have with these Old Gods.
For glory, honor, and gold!
This card is good in both version. Before corrupt it is better decent 5 drop, after corrupt it is just GG

ooooooooooo that is some SPICE. This gets corrupted after playing the new weapon, which summons a well statted elemental with taunt, filling both the Mech and Elemental types for N'Zoth, God of the Deep. Nozdormu, the Timeless for big dragon and quick corruption ramp fits in another spot. What's more is that this an exceptionally strong card to get off of Y'Shaarj, the Defiler since it helps stabilize the board after dropping your 10-drop. Double Old God Control Pally incoming?
Very solid on its own even without the [Hearthstone Card (YShaarj, The Defiler) Not Found] package. If we get another mech expansion next year this card becomes even better.
I just don´t understand why Paladin needs another 8/8 divine shield taunt..
♡ u 4ever 2008 - 2022
This is the theme for most corrupted cards..
but in this case the corrupted version is quite a big deal it's also a taunt + divine shield for N'zoth on the mech slot!
Honestly, a 5 mana 5/5 with Divine Shield by itself is already pretty solid.
This is also quite good for Y'Shaarj and N'Zoth. After you play either old god, you've spent all of your mana and you might be defenseless, so this allows you to put up a strong defense after those two gods.
5 mana 5/5 with taunt is pretty strong. playing a 5 mana 8/8 taunt divine shield in the late game seems PRETTY strong.
On a highlander package this can be really interesting, with Dragonqueen Alexstrasza and Sir Finley of the Sands acting as Dragon and Murloc, respectively, even when considering how Zephrys the Great pollutes the elemental pool for N'Zoth, God of the Deep. At least that's the way I see paladins could have an excuse to run so many clunky cards.
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996; Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906
Fantastic synergy with N'Zoth, God of the Deep, and the corrupt is easy to pull of with cards like Hammer of the Naaru. Also it's a corrupt card, so Y'Shaarj, the Defiler fits well into the deck. But i'm still not sure about that deck, like is it going to be good enough to beat Pure Libram paladin in terms of being a control deck? Or will Libram paladin give up the Pure package for the Old god & Corrupt package? Time will tell i guess.
Standard: As i said it's going to be in a control deck, maybe some kind of Libram control deck.
Wild: I'm actually not sure about it's impact on wild. It's a mech, so that's nice. But Handbuff Paladin likes cheap mechs way more. This might be the first card so far where i can't really predict how well it will work in wild... Well time will tell i guess..
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Same as the other are saying, works well with N'Zoth, God of the Deep and Y'Shaarj, the Defiler
5 for an 8/8 with Divine Shield AND Taunt? that is just dumb
5 mana 8/8 Taunt Divine Shield is obviously very powerful. The question is whether or not you will be able to corrupt it consistently. We have cards like the new Hammer and Libram of Hope. It seems like blizzard is pushing midrange paladin this expansion, and so far it looks like they will have some pretty strong cards.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
This is great. Even un-corrupted it's not bad, but corrupting should be easy, right? As others are noting, there are some great packages coming through here.
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
Its a decent card on its own, but there has got to be other cards that can corrupt it or otherwise there's little point to include it. Some obvious candidates are Hammer of the Naaru, Tirion Fordring, or Lady Liadrin. Can't rely on librams since they get cheapened throughout the game.
It kinda competes somewhat with Fleethoof Pearltusk for that 5 mana slot, and I'm a little biased towards rush minions compared to taunts. But the divine shield here is really not to be ignored.
Seems way too slow for current Pure/Broomvroom Pally. However, it could work for a N’zoth/Corrupt Highlander Pally (which is where I think N’zoth will go to anyway).
Like the real problem here is corrupting this card, if Hammer of the Naaru turns out to be good, this card could also be quite good. But I don’t see slots being sacrificed for either of these cards in the current lists. I look forward to new decks that could come with the card reveals.
This ain't no place for a hero
It might be difficult to Corrupt this card in existing lists, so I don't see it being included in them. Notably, it's a 5-mana 5/5 with Divine Shield on its own, but I can't help but think that even that's too fair for the current Standard metagame.
The moment I saw this after seeing Hammer of the Naaru though, I instantly thought of a Menagerie archetype featuring N'Zoth, God of the Deep. Should this deck become viable, I would expect to see this card in that list. This card synergises with Y'Shaarj, the Defiler as well, so there are some interesting implications there.
I would like to know though if N'Zoth would bring back the Corrupted or non-Corrupted version of this card though, because that would have significant implications for the archetype. I would imagine the Corrupted form is the one that gets resurrected.
He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich!
Darn, that's an Okay to Great card in one easy corruption trick
It is at least decent without the buff, but quite better with
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
It seems I very much agree with the general consensus: the base version is already playable, and the upgrade crazy good. Paladin is also clearly getting Menagerie support for N'Zoth, God of the Deep.
Nzoth brings back minions that died, and since corruption isn't a buff and is a whole new card, it will bring back the corrupted version assuming that's what that died earlier.
This card is good in standard, but INSANE in arena... I'm now scared of paladins again.
On the subject of Duels though, would Turalyon's HP summon the corrupted version of this card? I'm assuming it would
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
Very good card - even if it will not be corrupted.
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
There is something on corrupted cards I want to clarify, Libram of Hope fully discounted count as an 8 mana activator for corruption?
If it is the case, this card will be strong after that
Manis this good
5 mana 5/5 with divine shield is strong just look at [Hearthstone Card (Goody-Two-Shields) Not Found] but holy heck look at that corrupt form. Thats is just the body of Libram of Hope for 5 mana
TOTAL CORRUPTION
TOTAL POWAAAAAAA
Well, this is going to be annoying it's like the body of Trion but cheaper. and also bigger sometimes
Self proclaimed good at battlegrounds
Too slow, not worth running this card in constructed IMO.
This card is insane! 5 mana 8/8 DS/Taunt AND its a mech for Menagerie Paladin.
I think this card is pretty good and might actually see some play.
It's really good if you can reliably corrupt it, which it's hard to tell atm if you can. Hammer of the Naaru, Lady Liadrin, and Libram of Hope can all do it, but you might need to slot in a few more big minions to do it consistently.
one more solid card for this expansion
All hail the banshee queen.
8/8 Taunt Divine Shield for N'Zoth will be very good, but you really don't want to put the un-corrupted version in the res-pool.
Seems to susceptible to hard removal, or just being overrun before it is played. Love the art though.

5 mana 5/5 with Divine Shield and Taunt already seems good, though outclassed slightly by the potentially cheaper Devout Pupil. 5 mana 8/8 Divine Shield Taunt however just adds more to the brick wall that Aggro has to navigate around or smash their faces into.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
Decent enough Mech that has good options for corruption - might find a place in a deck with the new N'Zoth, since even just as a 5/5 Divine Shield that's pretty great to pull back from the dead.
Welcome to the site!
Paladin gets the good corrupt card.
Chumbawumba is the worst band name.
I think it can be, easily, one of the best corrupted cards we got on this set. This is also insane on mecha pala decks.
Xbox gamertag - Psymonjet
Very solid card, but it lacks taunt or anything proactive. Still very decent minion and might still see some play
Decent enough even if you don't get to corrupt it
If only Paladin had access to a card that generates 8/8s with Divine Shield and Taunt (perhaps bundled with a way to heal their face--and maybe even in a deck that can reliably cheat that sort of body out way earlier than it should be). Anyway, this card is a much slower version of that card.
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
And another divine shield taunt for Paladin. Mage will probably start runnin arcane explosion more now to deal with all of these.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
