This is essentially Avalanche with even further delay and heal attached to it...
I am actually not sure if that is better or worse than Avalanche because this version can't punish your opponent like Avalanche for developing the board on his turn... on your turn it however will always be better or... actually not even that because it doesn't allow to use spell mana
tough call if it will be good enough... i proably would prefer Avalanche
For all the awkwardness of playing this I'd rather just use Avalanche. I can use spell mana and I get to use it right after they toss minions down to stop them from attacking with them. This only has a minor upside in the form of healing your Nexus for 2 since it also deals 2 damage to your nexus. Its simply not worth it.
It might be good for Sejuani decks but those get to deal nexus damage in many ways already so yeah... it's rather clunky
I think that people are kind of misevaluating this card. It’s definitely worse when you play it against the opponent when they have the Attack Token, but if you play it on a defending turn it’s like setting up a Burst speed Avalanche. Also, if the opponent open attacks then this is a better response than Avalanche because it prevents the opponent from developing more. Given that its effect is better than Avalanche in at least half of the rounds of the game, the main weakness that this has is using unit Mana, which is compensated for by healing your Nexus 2 and damaging the enemy Nexus (activating Plunder). Overall, I expect this to be about as good as Avalanche if not better.
Honestly, this card feels like it should be compared to something like Kindly Tavernkeeper as well, a really good open attack punisher. If they open attack, you can play this and immediately heal back 4, and now your opponent has to play into it; otherwise, they'll burn their Mana and if they do, it has to be above 2 Health or it dies. Of course, the downside is that you can't use spell mana is a stark difference, and I think that this is the reason why it's worse than Avalanche still. Nevertheless, even if it isn't better than AvalanceBADCARDNAME, it is still a valid option since it can hit face for 2 as well, and you could just run both of them, so you'll have more removal options. You'd probably just run 2 of Avalanche and 2 of Blighted Ravine. Now, you punish both open attack and open development plays.
Take my words with a grain of salt. I'm unranked and only play casuals lmao.
Those are actually some valid points that I hadn't considered. It does have its own case usage and there is strength in simply being more of a good thing that Freljord wants to have. I take back my full negativity, I think Avalanche will still be the go to for sure but this might see use as a supplementary removal.
this is better on an attack turn for a defensive deck you make it so the next turn is weakened for the opponent who wants to play cards on 4, it's an open attack punisher if anything. also heals 2 if not at full.
