Interesting! First card that does something when dormant... and then does nothing. It should be possible to get more Dream cards using Maiev Shadowsong on this.
I didn't watch the reveal, so I'm just presuming that these are the same dream cards that come from Ysera. He is good for two of them at random. Without additional ways to make him go back dormant, are two random dream cards good enough to run him? There is Maieve from however many sets back that could be used to dormant him again, but it feels clunky. Plus, what good does a 3/3 do on turn 5? That is assuming you get to play him on curve and are ok with the tempo loss.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
Very slow but if you can get away with passing turn 3 then this could potentially be nuts.
Getting Ysera Awakens this early as a Control deck (or even just Druid) can be huge, as would be Dream. Nightmare is probably the weakest outcome whose usefulness will depend on what is in your deck, but at the very least it has synergy with Samuro, Apotheosis and Lake Thresher.
Drake and Sister are decent curve fillers, but I don't think playing a 4-mana 7/6 after dropping this recovers that much tempo.
At the end of the day he might just be too inconsistent to actually be worth running even though getting two extra cards over two turns sounds really good.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Very cool design around the Dormant mechanic. One of those few cards you want to remain dormant. It could give decks more options to go the control/value route, but ofc you can't guarantee which dream cards you get.
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
seems like one of those cards that just gets thrown into anything thats not aggro as a little value option. probably fine but is it better than just a scorpid or something? don't really think so
Regardless of power level, I really love the design. Really strong flavour and a fun use of the keyword.
A man is lying on the street, some punks chopped off his head
I'm the only one who stops to see if he's dead.
Hmm. Turns out he's dead.
Would pick this in Arena nearly every time. In constructed, I think this card is an option for the same decks that already run Ysera the Dreamer as that are decks that don't rely on tempo and can make up for the fact that they payed 3 mana for doing nothing.
Arena > Wild > Standard
but is that really worth it?
Adding random dream cards doesn't feel great, especially when two of them are minions that don't give any fast board impact. I don't know if any deck really wants this. The payoff for making it dormant again is nowhere near worth it.
This post is discussing the wild format.
Hmm seems very slow. Venomous Scorpid seems like a better card. Why play a 3 mana 3/3 just to get 2 RANDOM dream cards over 2 turns, which are often bad. And it's dormant, so it's 3 mana do nothing on turn 3... You could Maiev Shadowsong it again, but even then WHY? That's such a bad play. The only deck that MIGHT experiment with it is Control Priest, just to try get Ysera Awakens... This is such a bad card..
It might see play in arena, but even then. Do you REALLY want to play nothing on turn 3, while your opponent probably plays a 3/4? Can you really afford to do nothing on turn 3?
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Cheap Ysera that also guarantees you 2 Dream cards, which are very powerful that early into the game. This card reminds me a lot of Mankrik in that it's not super great, but can be slotted into any deck and feels fine.
Cool card! It's odd that they're bringing Dormant back for this, as they've been pretty consistent about keeping keywords within sets (or at least within a year).

I really want to try it, but it seems really slow.
So, a mini Ysera the Dreamer on turn 3, eh? Getting a couple of Dream cards on 3 or 4 as opposed to 9 could be nice.
Cool design. Early Dream cards could be real strong. Not sure it's worth passing turn 3 but the potential is there depending on what you generate.
Casual Dragon Cardgame enthusiast.
What a wasted opportunity to finally have a second good 'start of turn' card. And immediately after the failed caravan cards no less.
Playing a nothing card at 3 is not the end of the world, and if it means you can get a dream card you'd do it anyday.
Your opponent cannot and will not play around the possibility of Dream and Ysera Awakens, which makes this card all the more scarier when you do get the nuts out of it. Even if you don't, you'll always be given a card you can play the next turn, so what downsides is there to not just play this card whenever and wherever?
I'm calling it now that this card gets included everywhere you can fit him.
