Am I the only one who feels Lurk is a bad mechanic?

Even when you draw the right cards, it's underwhelming. You either count on luck, or you need to support it with something like predict. But getting supported still doesn't make it great.
Or am I missing something?

It depends on what do you mean by bad.
Do you mean that Lurk is a weak deck? The answer would be no, sure Lurk is not the best deck out there but it's still a good tier 2 deck that is capable of some explosive opening if you managed to proc a Rek'Sai early and Pyke level up is one of the nastiest abilities in the game.
But if by bad you mean that lurk is a rigid and linear mechanic that restrict your deck building and force you to follow the same game plan over and over then yeah lurk is a pretty bad mechanic.
I played some Lurk at the beginning of the set and yes I didn't find it as fun as I expected. There were multiple occasions where I felt I need to hit the early Lurks in order to have any chance. I was also rather gifted at drawing Pyke as a unit and not the spell which is crazy good.
Then again when the deck hits the dream curve it's almost unstoppable, so making it more reliable could be problematic as well.
After Patch 2.18.0 you guys might wanna give Lurks a try. Dragons a popular on the ladder after the recent buffs and lurks smash them.
