Remember when we thought Skull of the Man'ari was really bad and would never see play? Well I guess they were determined to get us our wish because this is just bad... Big Demon DH still doesn't have any kind of early game or reliable draw. Everything powerful they are able to do comes out at turn 6 at best.
Unless they unnerf Priestess of Fury I doubt the archetype will go anywhere because it really lacks some sort of mid-sized tempo play to carry you over into the lategame where you start playing a bunch of demons in a row.
Amazing Big Demon card. This is Skull of the Man'ari that only lasts 1 turn, but can't be destroyed. Demon Hunters also have significantly better Big Demons than Warlock.
It's a sigil, not an objective, so it only lasts one turn.
Ah, you're right! I guess I saw it and just assumed it was a "lasts 3 turns" spell. Will edit!
Powerful as this seems, it's still a do-nothing turn 5, which is a bit precarious. In fact, you may easily be forced to put off casting it against aggro, and if you put it off too long, its value starts to plummet.
You could play a weapon on turn 4 and still have something to do on turn 5.
I think the value in the late game is actually fine: you are going to get a ~3 mana discount on a big demon and on the turn that the sigil resolves you have all your mana available, so you can put down multiple threats at once which your opponent might not be able to deal with.
I see what you mean, as it isn't a very proactive turn to spend, but one could coin-out on T4, making this effective by the early T5
So Skull of the Man'ari but worse?
Nowhere near it because you literally cannot prevent this from triggering.
Skull was good at its time, mostly because of cube. And it can be countered. I mean, nearly every deck is featuring at least ooze or Harrison Jones because of it.
Thank goodness! The Skull was utter bs when weapon removal wasn't worth running against the rest of the meta.
It's a shame from a class and archetype standpoint that what they come up with to try to make big demon DH work is practically identical to what they've been doing with big demon warlock since Naxx. There must be another way than just cheating them out several turns early, surely? Any card designers out there got any ideas?
Turn 5 Sigil of Reckoning into turn 6 Caria Felsoul (into turn 7 Death Speaker Blackthorn?): nutty!
Clear indication that token and big is where dhunter are going this expansion.
Its a bit slow, and it telegraphs what youre likely going to be doing next turn, which is that youre about to hit face for 8 with Illidari Inquisitor. That's very scary in wild where Soul Split is there, but I guess there's always Faceless Manipulator in standard to do just about the same thing.
