Seems a bit slow. You're rarely going to play it the same turn you summon the dragons, so you're mostly just playing low tempo for a slightly better board on the next turn. Good luck trying to establish a board while you're being drowned in imps
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
This seems okay on paper, until you realize its pretty much the waste of your turn 4, just to set up and have a slightly better turn 5 ...
Dragon Paladin always gets me excited, but it rarely pays off - I want to believe
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Really strong card. The problem i see with it is that it's pretty slow. But being able to Timewarden into lets say.. Raid Boss Onyxia seems like a really good play. This sets up board by keeping the whelps alive, and lets be honest as long as Raid Boss Onyxia is on board the whelps already have taunt. And turn 4 Timewarden into turn 5 Onyxian Warder also seems decent in terms of tempo.
The only ACTUAL glaring problem i see for this card is that next year most good dragons are going to rotate and out of the ones left Onyxia the Broodmother looks like one of the best cards to play with it, unless dragon paladin gets more support. (Which they probably won't get. Look at Mech Mage, Murlock, Mech Paladin, etc.)
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Its the real reason why you'd be playing dragon pally, not Anachronos.
It may be slow, but that can be said to just about any paladin card that's not from this set. So its permissible to assume that a pally deck will still be playable even if they drop a 4 mana 3/5 on board.
The real power turn is turn 5 Bronze Explorer + Amalgam of the Deep, for both value and massive taunts. Gain back 3 health as well, sometimes.
But can a midrange pally even manage more than tier 2-3? That's the question to be asked, and from the looks of it its unlikely. Most decks are either faster, better, freeze for days, or just plain out tempo you by turn 3, never mind turn 5. I remain cautiously optimistic, and that's mostly because I love dragons.
So basically you have 2 turns to benefit from this effect, your current turn after playing Timewarden, then your next turn. This is good with the 2/1 Whelps with rush or even Daring Drake. Unfortunately, dragon paladin will be a short lived archetype till the Standard rotation next year so doubt we'll be seeing much of this guy.
Most dragons are also very big, with 13 dragons alone costing 6 or more mana (in Standard). You'd probably not be playing this dragon on curve and would want to be more greedy and wait till turns 7 or 8. Might be too slow then.
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
If you played this on curve, Onyxian Warder looks most likely to be the best turn 5 play, since the whelps would also get divine shield. Or maybe you could play a pair of cheaper dragons, not that I've gone through and checked what's available. Either way, any dragon good enough to play will be even better with divine shield and taunt, except perhaps those that already have one or the other naturally.
If you're willing to rock a dragon themed paladin deck, this is ridiculous because it's coasts over the next turn as well. Other than that, I think this is rather mediocre
Bit slow, but the effect carries over to the next turn so setting up for Onyxia or even just an Onyxian Warder seems very good.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
Solid stats and a strong effect, really like this one!
