What Are You Playing? July 2024

I'm still plowing through Shadow of the Erdtree: it's like a full game on its own! The expansion's map is huge, plus I keep messing around with new gear and builds.
Expecting to be done before the 18th, so I can switch to Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, and I'm hoping to review them both.
During the Steam Summer Sale, I bought three games for $20 total: Batman Arkham Knight, Bug Fables, and We Love Katamari REROLL. Not sure when I'll get around to them lol.
What are you up to this month? Any games you're planning to pick up? Let us know in the comments below!

Once the Euros are finished, I'll pick up what's left of Jedi: Fallen Order. I suspect I'm about to enter the endgame as I've recently unlocked the rest of the skill tree.
Next in line is Hades which I got during PlayStation summer sale. Heard nothing but praise about that one, very curious to finally try it.
I notice I am confused. Something I believe isn't true. How do I know what I think I know?

Ooh, yeah! Hades is one of the best games I've ever played, and the sequel is already fantastic despite being in Early Access.
This is how close I am to finishing RCT2. At that point, I'll have finally finished both games for the first time ever.
Finished Shadow of the Erdtree and reviewed it, so now I'm playing Last Epoch's first major Cycle/Season until Flintlock comes out this Thursday.
Ladies and gentleman, the entirety of RCT1 and RCT2 + all of its expansions.
Completed!!!
This has been a gaming goal of mine 17 years in the making, and I've finally done it!
How goes it - have you jumped into Hades yet? I was also gonna ask you if you ever got around to playing Hollow Knight; I think you mentioned the possibility before. They're amazing: Hollow Knight is in my Top 5 favorites ever, and Hades is somewhere close (maybe even moreso with Hades II).
Nice timing of that question!
I've finished Jedi: Fallen Order sometime last week. I did like the whole light sabre fighting thing but the story was pretty shallow and the way I was forced to run around the maps was not for me. Still tempted to get Jedi: Survivor because the graphics look super cool and the light sabre stuff got improved as well as far as I can tell from the trailers.
Game time is limited so I've never come around to trying Hollow Knight unfortunately. There are several people who have recommended it to me though, so it definitely stays on the list! Thanks for the reminder <3
My Hades adventure started yesterday night and I have to admit that I was a bit sceptical about it because I've basically never played a game of that genre before - but I instantly liked it! The music, the scenery, the characters, the mix up in builds every run, it's just super cool. I had a little help from my step daughter who has played it on PC so I've managed to beat Meg during my first playing session and reach the second level. Got stomped by the Medusa like creature that petrifies you to drop huge stones on your head though :D I was advised to use the bow and am learning the timing for that one and the best boons for it, what's your preferred build?

Just testing the quote/reply function we talked about.

Cool to hear you're digging it so far 😁 I didn't really have a preferred Hades build: eventually you can buy an upgrade where a random weapon each run gives bonus Darkness, so I just used whatever came up lol. In terms of a weapon I was successful with, it was probably the spear I won the most runs with.
If/when you finish Hades, don't forget that Hades II, while currently in Early Access, already has more content than the original! I actually like it even better, which is crazy given it's not complete yet 😅
Also, if you're interested in exploring the roguelike genre some more, I can definitely recommend other titles for ya.
So I started Flintlock yesterday, and...my initial impression is not great. Janky performance, even moreso on the Steam Deck; it's hard to determine if the game is naturally hard, or it's the controls, camera, and/or chugging system that makes it so.
Where do I go after finishing Roller Coaster Tycoon?
Simple answer: I went to Parkitect.
Still not really good at scenery building, but I'm loving the game.
Replying seems to be broken for me so Congrat @Demonxz95 !
Jedi Survivor is amazing if it runs well! Gotta have to recommend it! Like it even more than fallen order @anchorman
@anchorman @linkblade91 Still have to get into Hades! Installed it some months ago but never started it. You are tempting me here xD
In my case, I had more free time so I finished catching up to some series (GEN V and The Boys mostly as I had a 14 episode backlog there) and played some Age of Empires 2, Payday 3, and Spore.
Also started Hot Wheels Unleashed, Dragon Ball Xenoverse (The first one, as it was on a good sale and can't wait for sparkling zero) and Horizon Zero Dawn. I am really enjoying Hot Wheels and Horizon a lot and would love to finish them faster than I did AC. Brotherhood
Then on my "Installed list" I have Hades and Assassins Creed Revelations
Lemushki - The one and only since the 2006 rebranding.
Cool, I got Closed Beta access for Marvel Rivals! If anyone is interested and hasn't yet attempted to get their own access (found here for Steam, but I think consoles are also an option), I can potentially give away a code after reaching level 6 on their rewards track in-game. Closed Beta starts tomorrow; I would only have the one buddy-code to give, though.
If you're wondering what the heck Marvel Rivals is...it's a 6v6, PvP, third-person team shooter game, with I believe deathmatch and a dominion/"hold the area" objective mode as well. It features Marvel characters (duh), like Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Loki, Black Panther, etc.; and there are Team Up opportunities if allies are playing as appropriate characters (Rocket Raccoon can jump on Groot's back, for example, giving them both a boost).
So Marvel Rivals is about what I expected: a third-person Overwatch, with Marvel characters. Just been playing games vs the AI to get a feel for it, but it's fun!
Had a game just now where we had to hold a location, but the hard-difficulty bots pushed us back and took the spot. They got to 99% before I charged past everyone and captured it; we ended up winning. Didn't get MVP though lol :(
Haven't played every character yet, but so far I've enjoyed Venom (Vanguard/tank), Star Lord (Duelist/DPS), and Mantis (Strategist/healer). Groot (Vanguard) and Storm (Duelist) have consistently been MVPs; they seem busted. I'll have to try them next...if people would stop beating me to them!
...oh and the buddy-codes are all gone: I guess it was first-come-first-served, and I didn't snag one in time.
