What Are You Playing? Super September 2024
What are you up to this month? Have any games in mind for the future? Let us know in the comments below!
...so I relapsed and went back to Marvel Snap. Unlike that other game that shall not be named, I still enjoy Snap a lot; it's my wallet that does not.
Beyond that, I've been playing Black Myth: Wukong, and some Last Epoch. I'm a little worn out on the latter, because there isn't enough to do: I've made most of the builds I wanted to try out, enjoyed them, and now I'm ready for something else. That just might be Diablo IV again, with the Vessel of Hatred expansion and "2.0 overhaul" patch, but that's not until October 8th.
Regarding other stuff on the docket, there is of course The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom at the end of the month, Wild Bastards before that, and an Early Access update to Lost Castle 2 that emphasizes new gear for improving the ability to throw stuff at enemies (which I already find hilarious). I'll probably wait on Wild Bastards for now, which wasn't my plan but Wukong is "in my way" time-wise, and Snap is leeching my funds made available for games.

So... I got fired on September 2nd so...
Now that I have time to play I am finally finishing Horizon Zero Dawn, and will probably follow up with Age of Mythology Retold and Stray.
Will try to get The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom but I will have to take a loot at my savings by the end of the month before making a desicion.
Will probably get into Banner Saga 2 and Untitled Goose Game too if I have the time before God of War Ragnarok launches.
Finally I will probably keep going with my Love Hate relationship with Payday 3 as DLC4 is coming out in 12 days and I already have the Gold Edition.
(Mostly Backlog and Prepurchased stuff I have been looking forward to for a long time.)
Lemushki - The one and only since the 2006 rebranding.
Oh no! Sorry to hear that 😧
Pathfinder wrath of the righteous
Tales and tactics
Risk of rain 2 (first time for me!)
Damn i want a sabatical to relax.
I finished Parkitect yesterday. It's a really fun modern-day interpretation of Roller Coaster Tycoon, and it's a great game.
I have unfortunately though started battling one major flaw with my computer: Storage space. Damn limited laptop space not allowing me to install all of my games at once!
Thanks! Hopefullly it will find something fast, but not too fast so I can enjoy some free time

Howdy y'all been a minute but I'm back and been playing some games to say the last.
First one, Stardew Valley has hit me hard the past couple of weeks and I'm slowly on my way to getting a perfect farm. Don't get wifi at my house so it's been a journey playing that game without a wiki but it's been pretty fun. I also picked up Tactical Breach Wizards a bit ago, that games really good. It's a bit funny playing through it, stumbling into bugs, complaining to a friend about it, then having them tell me it was updated like a week ago to fix it. Overall though very solid game, great writing, great mechanics. Probably going to be chewing on Stardew Valley and the original Divinity trilogy from Larian the next couple of weeks, but since I've had a bit of a backlog since the last time I posted in one of these I'mma talk about them as well.
I've gone through a couple phases the last couple of months. Arguably the biggest was with Heroes of Might and Magic 3, beat the entire base campaign, biked out to remote areas to download mods, and then ended up bricking the original executable by having too many mods collide with each other, but very fun overall. Its pretty great going from such a well-balanced base game to installing Wake of Gods that 'woggifies' everything into a horrible balanced state where all it takes is enough stupid ideas to win every combat flawlessly, but it was fun.
I also went through a big jrpg phase again. I've replayed through Crystal Project, Epic Battle Fantasy 3-5, YIIK to name a few, i'd recommend crystal project and EBF5 for actual good fun games, then YIIK if you have a group to laugh at horrible bad things with.
Then the last big grouping of games I played with was pretty much every oldschool pokemon game up to gen 5. I decided to make a complete gen 5 dex which wouldn't be too hard if it wasn't for the fact I'm only playing on emulator and not using any additional software to transfer between games. It's been a bit of a struggle getting the early games pokemon up but it's been fun.
No fun games from Ghana this time around, I'll stay on the lookout for fun games for y'all to try though.

A WILD ECHO APPEARED!!!!
It's factory building month for me.
First I tried Shapez 2, an abstract factory builder which despite having just launched in early access is very polished. I got through all of the "campaign" (no story, but a series of tasks that become more challenging as you progress). The end game is to build a "make anything machine" and while mine does work, it cannot build everything yet (no crystals) and it could be optimized quite a bit still. I got a bit burned out by the end, but I put in over 100 hours and I'm likely to pick it up again in the future.
Yesterday the 1.0 release of Satisfactory happened and I've been playing that with friends. So far I haven't seen all that many changes compared to early access, but there are snippets of lore added (the alien artifacts now do something) and some quality of life improvements. We picked a different starting location from last time, so that already makes the game different. Highly recommended if you like building stuff. You might start out building spaghetti factories, move on to carefully planned efficient factories and in the end acquire an appreciation for brutalist architecture.
@Echo: Homm3 has a fan-made expansion called HOTA (horn of the abyss) which you can also play online, with a lobby! There's another "branch" too which allows online play but i think much less known, called VCMI (in it you can download any mods you want + a HOTA one which brings the town(s) from it etc). It also has some specific mods recommended for online play.
Both of these expansions have their own campaign(s), with many different towns and such. Yes, you should make 1 installation of homm3 for each of the expansions (to keep them clean and not have any funny business in the campaigns).
PS: WoG was the best, too bad no one plays it anymore :( it was made specifically for online play, especially due to it allowing the specific alteration of some (hidden?) rules.
Have you ever played a game that you really enjoyed, and wanted to keep playing, but felt like you couldn't as readily because of the energy + focus the game required of you? That's me with Black Myth: Wukong lol. It was a similar thing with DOOM 2016, although that game was even more intense and thus exhausting to play XD
I've taken like a two-week unplanned "break" from Wukong because I've struggled to reestablish my energy levels: whether it's being tired from work, or my depression, or distractions like the NFL starting back up again, focusing my attention enough to be like "Alright, I'm gonna play Wukong now!" has been a challenge. It's been more "I'll just play Diablo IV for a bit while the TV is on", "oh, Snap's missions are full again; guess I'll play those," you know? Still playing games, but less enthused than I'd like.
Sorry for the late response (don't travel into the city where I get wifi to chat here much haha) but I've played HotA! Cove is pretty fun to play albeit I never really got the feel of Factory. I think the HotA cannon might be my favorite bit of spritework + sfx I've seen in a long time, the little swivel and massive boom was a lot of fun. My biggest issue is that I couldn't get into the HotA campaigns. I think part of why I loved the base Homm3 campaign and the WoG ones that come with the ERA was that they just feel so campy and I love them, while the HotA ones all take themselves serious without reaching the same level of campy. I'm not sure when I'll come around to playing more Homm3 but when I do I'll have to check out VCMI.
As for the online play stuff, it's never been a concern for me because the of the whole "needing to spend an hour and a half traveling into a city to have working wifi" not really allowing me to consider it haha. Though I have been considering trying to do a hotseat game with my brother where we send the save file back and forth to create like a mail chess situation since my wifi is just barely able to transfer files, but then the issue is we'd have to do Co-op and thats not as fun to me. Also I'm well aware that I should have 1 installation for each expansion now, hindsight is 20/20 and all that. Maybe someday I'll try to reclean it all up again.
