More Dragon synergy Pog
Spice Lord and self-proclaimed Meme Master.
Divine Strength + divine shield? sounds great... finally a decent dragon synergy card for paladin..
Why can't they just stay consistent with the way they write the text.
Why switch "if you're holding a Dragon" to AFTER the effect now?
Love your work, Blizzard... 🙄
It just works how the text describes. If you are not holding a dragon it just gives +1/+2 to a minion. If there is a dragon in your hand it also gives divine shield.
Sorry but there is no inconsistency here.
Unpopular Opinion Incarnate
Even though it's solid, I'm just not sure how useful this effect really is.
Hand of Protection has never been good. And Divine Strength has never been good.
In a 30 card deck, I'm not sure this makes the cut. It would have to be a really zoo-y dragon paladin...and even then, I'm suspicious.
The card will always give a minion +1/+2 whether or not you are holding a dragon. But it will only give divine shield if you are holding a dragon, so I should think it would read "Give a minion +1/+2. If you are holding a dragon, give it Divine Shield" but instead it says "Give a minion +1/+2. Give it divine shield if you are holding a dragon".
If this card was consistent with other dragon cards it would say 'if you're holding a dragon' before the ability that wants you to be holding a dragon, but this card says 'if you're holding a dragon' after the ability.
I am not 100% sure if this is accurate, this is just how I think it should work.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
we'd said same things already. If you look awarely, there is a dot after +1/+2. It basically has 2 effects in 1 spell and "If you're holding a dragon" part is still before the effect which is about holding dragon, that's the divine shield part.
They taught us "if" sentences as they are same when you say "if I can come home earlier, we might go to the cinema" or "We might go to the cinema if I can come home earlier." So I get it like there is no inconsistency here.
Unpopular Opinion Incarnate
look at cards like Breath of Dreams, Corrosive Breath, Lightning Breath, and Molten Breath. All of them say "do effect X. If your holding a dragon, do effect Y". Sand Breath is the only dragon card in existence that says "if your holding a dragon" at the end of the card.
You are right in that it is grammatically correct, but it is not consistent with other Hearthstone cards.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
Still there is not any inconsistency. "if you're holding a dragon, Give it Divine Shield." and "Give it Divine Shield if you are holding a dragon." are same sentences. There is not any ambiguity.
Unpopular Opinion Incarnate
They are both the same sentence, and they both mean the same thing, but the way the sentence is formatted is different than on the other cards, and is therefore, an inconsistency.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
What you are doing here is finding fault with anything blizzard do. It is just funny how you defend yourself with a meaningless sentence differencies between cards. It is not like the difference between "Adapt 2 times" "adapt, then adapt" or " adapt twice". It is just same sentences in different order, doesn't even mislead people.
Why are we arguing this? it is just silly.
Unpopular Opinion Incarnate
I am not trying to hate on blizzard simply for the sake of hating on blizzard.
That one guy mentioned that this card was inconsistent with other dragon cards, and I was just trying to explain why.
You are right though that this argument is a little silly. So lets just agree to disagree and end it here.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
I think they wrote it like this so the line breaking was better this way. The sentence "If you're holding a Dragon" is so long it would probably end up like
Give a minion +1/+2
If You're holding a dragon give
it Divine Shield
Which would be ugly. I strongly suspect something like this was the reason to use this wording in this case, and they did not want to have two half sentences on one line.
with more dragon sinergy this could be a 3 stars card
Arena card i guess?
Never netdeck, craft Whizbang instead!
This card could only be strong in some Dragon Divine Shield Paladin.
But in a generic Dragonadin, i can only see it as a deck filler, not really relevant.
I managed to put together a pretty decent Dragon Paladin deck during RoS and this will slot into very nicely. I think as a class, Paladin is probably the one that has the best "starting position" to build a good Standard Dragon deck relative to the other classes thanks to Dragon Speaker and Bronze Herald - both of which will be in Standard after rotation unlike the Dragon cards for say Hunter (from Witchwood) and Warrior (from Rumble) that will rotate.
Such effect for so just 1 mana is insane if used in an aggro deck trying to win by turn 6-7. But those decks don't usually play dragons. Dragons are more midrange/control minions, and in those decks this effect is at the very much "meh".
If we get an aggressive dragon this will be good when you want to dump minions and stats as early as possible.
Seems fine, but Divine Strength and Hand of Protection aren't exactly good cards. Does combining them and including a Dragon requirement end that problem? Hard to say.
It´s not that I hate it or anything, but it seems very boring and I don´t think it´s gonna make the cut. 1/2 divine shield buff isn´t even that great or is it? And you even need to hold a dragon
A nice little tempo card for Dragon Paly, seems solid to me.
The mana reduction from "if you're holding a dragon" is fairly inconsistent. Or am I miscalculating how much mana divine shield is worth?
Seems pretty weak IMO, not because the effect is terrible, but I don't think there's room for this in any deck, even in dragon ones.
I'm sorry for my bad english :)
Hard to rate this card. It's nothing special, but for its cost it does a lot. This expansion does seem to powercreep a lot. This might see play in some Midrange Dragon Paladin decks, but even then it's not a staple probably.
I have a hunch this expansion will be inclined towards buffing immortal prelates and dragons somehow, so it could be useful.
Maybe this could be used with Prince Liam. I like my Prince. I want to play him.
All I know is this seems great to me. Yes, its cheap and doesn't seem super impactful, but Divine Shield is powerful and even a small buff means something, especially on a Divine Shielded minion that can make a favorable trade. I think this will be surprising good.
To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of the women.
I really like it, looks pretty good.
for me it´s a filler pack card, not very impressive
This is exactly what a tempo oriented paladin dragon deck is looking for, as it makes for some crazy favourable trades.
The Forgotten Wilds - Druid
No one's running either Divine Strenght or Hand of Protection, so yeah...
But maybe there's a place for it in some kind of Highlander-Dragon-Pally?

Cheap spell, good effects & dragon synergies. Looks good depending on the rest of the dragons that come up for Paladin.
Have small statbuffs like this ever even seen play? If you don't get at least +2/+2 with an additional upside it's usually not worth it.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
I think this is a very underrated card. It's amazing value for its cost. Very good in the early game in Tempo match-ups.
Not impressed. I prefer Secrets and their synergy cards as 1-mana spells in Paladin decks. Can't see wich card I would cut for this.
I’m not really convinced it’ll be all that great, multiple effects can be nice, but I don’t feel it’s worth the card slot
Who needs consistency when you could have fun?
Such a good and infuriating control card. Dragon Paladin is already infuriating enough
I thinks its pretty weak overall and can play only in decks with strong dragon synergy
Will be probably hard to spare a slot for this in deck, since its not that impactful, plus it has a condition. When compared to Potion of Heroism, this does not seem much better. Sure, tempo is better, but the deck also has to have enough draw/card gen, which could be problematic to make with Dragons.
''Sand Breath'' now that's an insult!
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
I don’t like Sandbreath
While the card is strong for only 1 mana, I don't see someone wanting to put this in their deck. Playing cheap buffs such as this without a strong card draw spell like Divine Favor will ruin you. Not only that, but you want dragons, unless we get a bunch of strong cheap 1-2 mana dragons (we have Faerie Dragon but it can't be buffed), this won't work. For now, I only see this being played after being discovered by Firetree Witchdoctor.
More dragons? Yes please!
Buff and divine shield..easily activated in a dragon deck..this will be a staple card in the dragon meta.
I think the other breaths are a lot more powerful because they don’t have as much dragon synergy
Really disappointed with this card. All the other "breath" cards are crazy good and this is .... fine??? Expected much more
2 cards in one although i see it more in an aggro type of Dragon Paladin, we'll have to see how it unfold, in paper good, in reality....an incognita
Nice cheap effective buff card for Paladin.
I can see this card being very powerful in Arena, however for standard I really cannot see this making the cut. It is simply too 'fair' of a card. Unless the meta goes full midrange where value trades matter, this card will not see play.
Good and balanced. Won't win any game but seems fun to use. Also combine the effects of 2 cards that were not used much in one.
I found this card pretty good.
If dragon pala would be a thing it will probably run 2 of these, especially if will go on midrangey direction.
In the right situation is ok to play this card even if you still not have any dragon in hand and not feel too bad about it.
Too undertone to fit the dragon theme IMHO.
A decent buff pay-off for Dragon paladin decks, which traditionally have lacked good pay-off cards.
Also a cheap buff in general for decks that care about cheap spells.
I might see some play in agressive paladin but i don't very like the card. Yeah paladin should be able to buff things but this card is too boring IMO. I feel like it's just a filler card.
these early buffs are really good with secretkeeper, zealot, etc that scale from early game, but the dragon requirement kinda limits that. i dont think any dragon deck wants to run this.
I don't like it, but I have a problem in low impact cards so maybe it's just me.
I think it's a cheap strong spell IF we trigger both effect. Without the Divine Shild I think it's not worty to play
It seems like 30% of every card in this expansion is going to have a dragon trigger on it....
With the dragon synergy for divine shield, this card could be relevant for board control at any point in the game. Pretty solid, but Buff Paladin isn't as well supported as it used to be. Could make for some fun Galvadon Paladin in wild.
better than card that never saw play but i think its still not good enough
Might work but I feel like it's going to go in the bin its like hand of protection (I think) but adds stats I could see this but I feel like its too lacking
Self proclaimed good at battlegrounds
It looks like Dragon Paladin finally gets enough support to make a card like this work. However, this card might not fit into a dragon deck since the effect is rather small. Maybe, this cards finds it's way into an Aggor Paladin that also runs Faerie Dragon.
Might see play in no Neutral Paladin as a filler
I feel like paladin has had a ton of great dragon synergy cards already, they just lacked actual dragons. This expansion might push it over the edge.
Kinda awkward, very incremental buff. Even the addition of Divine Shield probably isn’t enough to make it worthwhile.
Jaina is best waifu. Always.
Good dragon deck supporting card due to being 2 cards in 1. Good in early games, but the value falls off quickly.
A nice addition to a dragon paladin deck. You can use it early game or late game.
Probably just too small and too irrelevant to see play. Wish I could say otherwise.
For given cost good value, but for standard its too balanced. I don't believe this will make it to the meta.
Fun and interactive game.
