Core Set 2020 Bundle Pre-Order Up on MTG Arena

Would this be worth it for a new player?  

I....may not be pre-purchasing the next HS expansion and instead putting more time into MTGA.  I don't know how seriously I'll end up taking the game, but at the same time, I don't mind spending $50 if it's a good value and can let me play some cool decks.

Well, it is impossible to tell how many cards of 2020 will be used in this and next standard and core 2020 will rotate next year but it is a good price and it will give you wild cards to craft rare lands and other essential cards you want for building deck(s) you want to play.

Investing in the next set after 2020 may be a better choice because that one will stay in standard longer.

This. It's basically like 'you should pre order the first expansion of the year in HS rather than the last'.

Ah gotcha, thanks guys!  So this is the last set before rotation?  How often do they rotate and what sets rotate? 

Currently I'm just messing around in non ranked, trying to optimize a deck with my very limited collection.  

Are we supposed to pre-order blindly or do they show all the cards beforehand like HS

Once per year. Ixalan, Rivals of Ixalan, Dominaria and Core 2019 will rotate out.

I might get this set unsure atm. I know for sure its kind of worth it for the price, in the sense of wild card progression. HS is not getting anymore money from me! Team 5 just cant help themselves with the run away decks. (Playing Pogo Rogue atm and its just silly.) Well Magic also has its own run away crazy decks, however I feel that you have far more control over your interactions.

So far I've spent 5 bucks on Magic, and I've never felt like I was at a great disadvantage, so logically I should be ok without purchasing this. . .but damn, I want to. I'll probably cave and do it. That Chandra art is pretty sweet, and I love her Spark card,

Core sets are usually best for new players to start with, but I'm not sure I'd ever preorder one.

Even if I had the money, I'd wait for an  actual expansion and not a core set.

Red elemental decks are pushed. Runaway Steam-Kin will shine in this kind of decks.

Grull elemental decks may be something interesting, too.

Got my pre-order bundle.  Heard that the affiliate link blesses my packs to only have mythic rares :o  

I think at least some cards from this set will make it to the meta, look at how powerfukl some of them are! 

I see [Hearthstone Card (Chandra, Acolyte of Flame) Not Found] replacing the [Hearthstone Card (Goblin Chainwhiler) Not Found] in mono-red aggro, [Hearthstone Card (Chandra, Awakened Inferno) Not Found] absolutely will find its way as control killer, Leyline of Sanctity... Lots of cool stuff and they've just started the reveals!

At least, even if you don't get a ton of useful stuff, imagine all those Wild cards you get for 50 bucks...
