I found the original one pretty neat, let’s see how this goes...
To quote the legendary Riosix:
It's a treasure hunt using your Hearthstone card collection. I'll start it off with a riddle, and you try to figure out what card I'm talking about. First one to answer correctly picks a new card and makes the next riddle. Make it as difficult as you want, just not impossible :)
I’ll start with:
Alone I’m quite fearsome,
you better watch out,
but doubled I’m more than tripled,
and my gurgle - a mighty shout.

Nope.
Catrina Muerte
Life is a game. (idk)
Looking for fame? (idk)
Try your chance (idk)
And have a dance With death! (have a dance with death is her entrance line)
Negative. You're looking for a spell.
Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron?
Puzzle box is a game
Yogg obvious a very famous card, plus the awesome/terrible luck videos (I assume) get good views on various channels
RNG is taking a chance
You dance with death because you can suicide with particularly bad luck
Good guess, but no. "Fame" only means increasing your chances to win in this case.
Roll the Bones?
Sylvanas Windrunner?
Roll the Bones is correct, Abobominator is next!
When I step into the Arena
the all whisper in a
state of shock.
I do not trundle, do not amble
I will taunt you if you gamble.
Amani War Bear?
Arena = Gurubashi = RR
Not trundling/ambling = has rush
Has Taunt
Druid of the Claw
Master Jouster
A card that's only been played in Arena, and gambles on gaining Taunt.
No good anwser yet. The Arena playability and taunt are good tracks... As a hint - the card has a big gaming reference and it's partially present in my "poem".
may we have a hint
Second request for another hint here - I think we're all stumped (at least I sure am).
Lord of the Arena? Totally out of ideas here lol, if it's not, then... hint please?
Okay we haven't heard anything from the riddle-poster in a week at this point - I'm voting to call it and open the round back up for whoever wants it. Agree/Dissent?
agree
so based on majority rules ill turn the riddle over to the public
any takers?
Agree, but I don't want the spotlight lol
Sorry for the delayed answser, it was a bit crazy on my side with the virus and kids at home.
The card was Bog Creeper - there refences were to his flavour text, the BioShock imagery and being good in Arena.
Here's one that's THREE cards that all have a common link
A & B are green (but different) & Wild
B & C fiddle with the future
A & C are unnatural
All three have a 3
Acolyte of Pain, Hooded Acolyte and Acolyte of Agony/Twilight Acolyte?
Nope but you've got the idea. The "green but different" is important
Okay so no other guesses means hint time:
1) The "green but different" - one card is from a "green class" and the other card is not from that class but is green in another way
2) On Fedrion's guess (re: "Acolyte"), only "B" & "C" have names that reflect the connection - "A" doesn't have the identifier in its name but is clearly part of the pack. ("pack"...is that a THIRD [and actually FOURTH too] hint!?)
If this was too complex and ya'll want to jettison this and someone else can have a go I wont be offended - or if you want more hints that's fine too just let me know.
I like your innovative riddles! I just don't have the time to think it through thoroughly.
That said, Rat Pack seems an obvious candidate for B. EVIL Cable Rat might be C, but it misses the 3... So I go for Hunter's Pack. If that's true, "unnatural" means we're looking for a spell... couldn't find something fitting for now.
I'm sure A or B is a hunter card. "Pack" might mean beasts. The green card that isn't hunter might be a common card, since they are displayed with green text in the forum or there's literally something green in the art.
Sorry for the stream of consciousness style of guessing. I go for Rat Pack and Hunter's Pack. Maybe you could tell us what I got right?
Okay so what you got right:
1. B is a Hunter card
2. Pack was indeed a refence a beasts (though there's a second, punny clue in "pack" as well for any taxonomy people)
And where you're off:
1. Unnatural is not a reference to a spell - all 3 cards are minions. Unnatural is a reference to those two not being let's say "pure" beasts. I can't think of a way to explain without giving it away.
2. The non-Hunter green is not a reference to how common cards show up on OOC. What other card(s) have a literal green thing in them?
And maybe this is too many clues but I work in live entertainment and coronavirus shutdowns cost my company literally $1.1 million in lost revenue today so I'm drunk as shit and don't care - the "fiddles with the future" clue is about B &C interacting with decks (i.e. future = cards not yet drawn).
WASH YOUR HANDS!
Ok, I might be wrong but and the great problem comes from A, that's the one that make me wonder if I could be correct or no...
So:
A:Thunder Lizard?
B: Raptor Hatchling
C:Subject 9
I also thought of multi-class cards from Mean Streets, but none fits so... I dropped that "green" theme right away.
The only other green thing of course is the artwork, and if not well... I'm lost yet again and you made a hell of a riddle.
Good guess but not quite.
However, you are VERY close on Subject 9 as C - the “unnatural” being a beast that has been boom-tastically upgraded.
On A since that seems to be tough spot I’ll say it’s a Druid card (though you are right that the art is green ). Didn’t Druid have a “green” deck that was meta-dominate for awhile....
Then, the other one's I thought about but was really unsure since it was a Druid card:
A: Jade Behemoth
B: King's Elekk
C: Augmented Elekk
If not, I will cry lol
Edit: I still have my Jade Druid deck in the decks for when I'm bored of standard and want to go Wild, it's not what it used to be, but it gives me some good laughs from time to time
You’ve got it! The 3 Elekks.
The punny secondary clue in “pack” was for pachyderm.
That was a good one, and the pachyderm pun was a big lol when I realized
Two cards:
With a big smile
Robust and sly
Big comes first
Then the little ones
Infested Wolf & Kindly Grandmother?
The "big smile" and "sly" immediately made me think of "grandma, what big teeth you have" and wolves being cunning/sly.
And then the other wolf being where a big minion spawns smaller minions
Didn't even think about it, and would be semi-perfect, but no.
For clarification, one of the cards is a spell.
Ok, hint time maybe?
I don't think I'm right, but:
Sabretooth Stalker - smile = big teeth; robust and sly = big dmg & stealth
Meteor = the big hit comes first and then the little side-hits
The connection being both are from UnGoro
Anything in there on the mark?
The connection is spot on, but... with the wrong expansion.
The minion is big, but not in stats.
I got two more clues, but I'm sure both will give it straight away.
Big-Time Racketeer & Small-Time Recruits?
Racketeer has a big smile and is a "big" (i.e. costly) minion with small stats. Recruiter brings out a bunch of "little ones".
Both are from MSoG.
Nope.
I've been thinking of a clue that will not give too much away: they BARK the same.
Aha that clue did it:
Pick Pocket - big smile, sly to steal, "dog" barks
Splitting Festeroot - big minion with poor stats that spawns smaller minions; Tree bark
So freaking close!
The second one is spot on in the barking part, but not on BEING a tree.
Gonna give two clues, they are actually wild right now and they use the same mechanic.
oh thats right you had said they were wild cards before derp.
Well... Since it's been a while, want the answer or another hint maybe?
With all the reveal season and hype building up, plus the corona and all this quarantine thing... I guess the best thing to do is keep going with another hunt...?
I would prefer another hint.
I concur on the hint request - this is a good puzzle i'm just stumped on a wild card that is tree-related without actually being a tree.
Great! Then the next hint:
They benefit from taunts but neither of them has taunt keyword on it.
Man this is a thinker - I'll guess
Master Oakheart
Oaken Summons
So you've got the "bark" there from both having OAK, and both cards summon smaller minions from your deck? Also Oakheart is smiling in the card art.
Not super sure how they'd benefit from taunt though beyond not having the little minions get immediately destroyed? I was thinking cards that fit that clue would be "start of turn" cards (since the taunt would keep them alive long enough to trigger, but I can't think of any that are 1) wild, 2) tree-related, & 3) have a spell with the same effect in the same expansion. Like Toothy Chest would fit 1 & 2 (being made of wood) plus the smile clue, but there isn't a spell that also gives 4 attack in K&C nor does it fit the "big then little clue"...
Ding ding ding!
Exactly those two!
Master Oakheart benefits directly from summoning Hadronox in Taunt Druid, and Oaken Summons is used in a lot of stalling decks for adventures summoning Ironwood Golem or Crypt Lord.
The big then small is a pure numbers thing, 6 armor 4 cost minion, 9 mana 1-2-3 attack minions.
And the smile part was specifically to denote Oakheart, cause I couldn't find a better way to call him out.
Nice!
Since I just went though & I have no riddle ready, I’ll pass so if anyone else wants to jump in and go please do
Easier this time around, but I felt like making a riddle with a more classic style, almost something that would be used in a D&D session:
A riddle within this riddle,
a power without control
a gift from an old acquaintance
who longs to see you fall
Madame Lazul
A riddle within this riddle, (idk)
a power without control (idk)
a gift from an old acquaintance (she gives you a card from your opponent) (and she was the main charecter from the old gods expansion)
who longs to see you fall (she summoned the old gods who were supposed to destroy the world)
Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron?
It's a riddle itself and it's a riddle what's inside.
You can't control what it casts.
It's a gift from the old gods.
Yogg wanted to destroy Azeroth for having a Titan inside.
@Fedrion got it!
The "power without control" part was top notch and I instantly thought about Yogg, but since it was a gift and a riddle, Puzzle Box! Casino Mage FTW.
Now, I think this is an easy one:
Wait, just wait!
What could go wrong?
With a hand so full...
Everything's strong!
Shadow Council?
That's right! What could go wrong with random demons?
I didn't even see that I got it right. This is either really obvious or really hard.
Ravens contest my army
I'm a "me go face" enabler
My friends are blind, but not me
All I see is Magma Rager
Battlefiend?
Don’t really get the last line, but everything else kind of checks out.
Satyr Overseer? It (and it’s tokens) can be killed by ravens (which are usually 2/2s). It’s in Demon Hunter but it’s not blind, it encourages face attacks, and with the Hero Power you can kill a Magma Rager.
Gonk, the Raptor
Ravens contest my army ( was a year of the raven card)
I'm a "me go face" enabler (encourages druid to attack with hero power)
My friends are blind, but not me idk
All I see is Magma Rager . (gonk is a bad card and is only really used in otk decks)
@MurlocAggroB didn’t reply in a while. Should we skip em?
can someone pm him first
(not sure if it's etiquette to place one if I didn't guess answer, but too fun a prompt to resist)
A devilish midrange gambit
To steer you to disaster.
Once a precious cantrip,
Does strike now haphazard.
I scoured pretty much every card in the game and I don't see anything that elegantly fits to every line. Scratched off Void Ripper, Unseal the Vault, and others off the list. Stumped!
(sad face that no one wants to guess mine)
It was Satyr Overseer. I'm so sorry. I completely forgot this thread existed.
The last line is because his entry quote is "All I see is weakness!"
@CursedParrot your turn, then!
Ok, the guy isn't very committed to taking his turn so why should we suffer in wait?
A devilish midrange gambit
To steer you to disaster.
Once a precious cantrip,
Does strike now haphazard.
That should be Darkest Hour which was nerfed this week and thus became risky to play.
Darkest Hour was nerfed?
Bloodbloom was nerfed, not Darkest Hour, but the deck's called "Darkest Hour Warlock", so it's an indirect nerf to that card... I guess?
If not, Bloodbloom also makes sense, risky, consumes a lot of mana+health now.
Not Darkest Hour. Its a minion
Tinkmaster Overspark?
Way back before it was nerfed, it was playable because it could target a minion to transform, but the rng could still screw you over. After the nerf, it became a complete Randomonium because you have no idea what will be hit and how.
Should we skip @Live4vrRdieTryn?
Ya'll are wrong so far. Hint: the card is in standard.
A devilish midrange gambit
To steer you to disaster.
Once a precious cantrip,
Does strike now haphazard.
Unseen Saboteur
if this i wrong i would like a hint
Correct!!!
@DescentOfDragonsOp your turn
this one should be pretty easy
1 man united 4 people from different roots
They all Came together to give Khadgar the boot
This man is very twisted indeed
For he is a man of supreme archeology
Arch-Villain Rafaam
correct @DestroyerR your nex
Think of a place,
whose drinks make eyes droop
then, a container,
filled with worms or maybe soup
third, a way of speech,
so curt it’s almost rude
lastly, a kind of movement,
continuous and smooth
Nobody is going to be able to guess that one
Forbidden Words?
It seems all the tips are referring to the gangs of Gadgetzan.
Think of a place,
whose drinks make eyes droop - Kabal potions
then, a container,
filled with worms or maybe soup - Smuggler's Crate, aka the Goons
third, a way of speech,
so curt it’s almost rude - Jade Lotus (the last tip fits better, but it's out of the sequence)
lastly, a kind of movement,
continuous and smooth - something about the card itself
This would mean it's probably neutral. Red Mana Wyrm?
Neither of those. I’ll give you guys some more guesses before the hint
Boulderfist Ogre
lol
hint: the entire riddle is about the card’s name
Friendly Bartender
Nope
I think every part of the riddle gives us a word and putting them together results in the searched card's name. From this assumption I conclude that it will be hard for people who aren't native speakers. I'll still give it a try, maybe someone else can build upon my ideas:
Think of a place whose drinks make eyes droop
No idea. This might be WoW-connected.
then, a container, filled with worms or maybe soup
This might be a can.
third, a way of speech, so curt it’s almost rude
First thing that comes to my mind is to slur but I'm not sure if that qualifies as "curt".
lastly, a kind of movement, continuous and smooth
I'd go with to glide here.
Thankfully, we have a nice tool for card searching. I've put in can, slur and glide and found out that "can" is part of quite a few arcane and volcano-related cards, ... wait.
It's Incanter's Flow, isn't it? Inn, can and flow are fitting perfectly, I just don't know about "ter's" as a way of speech, but I'm certainly missing something a native speaker grasps immediately.
@anchorm4n ding ding ding, we have a winner! The third clue was “terse”, so like inn -> in, it’s a homophone. You got all of the other clues right.
your turn!
Wow, that was a cool riddle! I like your constant flow of new ideas. Give me some time to think of something, I'll try to post the next riddle tonight or early tomorrow within the next 5 to 18 hours.
Alright, this probably ends up too easy, but let's try a new style:
Veggie Ball
Clap clap clap.
nicely done sir... nicely done indeed
Meat Wagon?
The shortest ones are the hardest lol, prepare for some mental gymnastics
Veggie balls are brown and have to do with vegetables, so... Druid? Something that counters Druid?
Maybe Skulking Geist?
Come on, guys, it's obviously Carnivorous Cube!
How did I not think about that? lol
That's right! You're next, JFK :-)
Alright, here's something different. It might be too hard (or just too weird), but we'll see:
Topsy Turvy?
Hiiint
Backroom Bouncer?
Neither of those. The card is a minion, and Backroom Bouncer is actually close character-wise.
Infested Tauren then!
Friendly Bartender
”Don’t forget to tip the tauren!”
Yes, it's Friendly Bartender! DestroyerR, you're next.
Oh no! While our card was being interviewed, mischievous spirits messed with the transcription and made anagrams out of the answers!
Here is an exempt from the interview:
Q: “What set do you belong to?”
A: “cop folded shoplifters.”
I'm confused.
Demon Hunter initiate - only one I, no U
Ashes of Outland - no A
Galakrond's Awakening - no A
Saviors of Uldum - no U
Rise of Shadows - no W
Naxxramas - no A
Goblins vs Gnomes - no I
Blackrock Mountain - no A
The Grand Tournament - no A
League of Explorers - no A
Whispers of the old Gods - no W
Karazhan - no A
Gadgetzan - no A
Journey to Un'goro - no U
Knights of the Frozen Throne - no I, no Z
Kobolds and Catacombs - no A
Witchwood - no I, no W
The Boomsday Project - no A
Rastakhan - no A
Basic, Classic, HoF - no A
Psh, you didn’t think it’d be THAT simple, did you?
Try to think a little more outside of the box...
Is this a card name or a set as the last guesser thought? Are the number of letters in each word congruent with the answer
Maybe it's not from a set, but a generated card? Or something like a treasure card from an adventure? Just trying to think "outside the box", not sure if choosing a non-collectible card is allowed or not, but hey... maybe.
I assume it's that code thing where the letters get substituted, haven't you done one of those before? If I remember correctly they are usually solved by taking short words like "cop" in this case and see if the riddle makes sense if that means "the" or "and". There are other similar tools to crack these that I don't remember because I'm not into this, but if you really did the code thing and made them anagrams on top of that... that's a tough one.
So I'll just pounce on the interview part, guess Daring Reporter and beg for a hint ;-)
Whatever you did, kudos for coming up with yet another style!
well, maybe a bit Less outside of the box... the anagram does answer the interview question coherently (meaning it’s closer to a set), but consider this: if the anagram only reveals the set, how come that alone is enough to discover the card?
Okay, so say it was an anagram of "They entered my woods", the solution would be Hagatha the Witch?
possibly. the important thing to remember is that there’s a reason why I presented this riddle With an interview: the card is genuinely trying to answer the question conventionally
It’s been taking a PhD in astrophysics to solve these lately
I'll try and write down my thoughts about this like last time. Maybe someone is able to pick up a piece and we'll get there together.
"cop folded shoplifters"
DestroyerR told us it's an anagram, so rearranging the letters presents us not only with a coherent answer but also with a hint at a specific card which is strong enough to solve the riddle.
From "cop" alone I would deduce that the anagram consists of the whole answer and not word by word, since I don't know another word made of the letter c, o and p. So we're looking for a sentence with an unknown number of words, made of 20 letters. (The number of words in the solution would be a great hint!) On second thoughts, maybe the number of words and the number of letters per word are correct... that makes me pretty sure the first word is "the".
I'd still like to try and think of the solution from the back end onwards like in my example with Hagatha. There aren't that many characters who are iconic enough in context with their set to determine them with a short sentence. The Lich King is another one that comes to mind as well as Arch-Villain Rafaam, Medivh, the Guardian and Dr. Boom, Mad Genius.
None of those ring a bell for me when it comes to the fact that the riddle is presented in the form of an interview. The only connection I can come up with is Rafaam recruiting the League of E.V.I.L. - maybe he did some job interviews?
Finally, "mischievous spirits" causes an itch at the back of my mind. Maybe there's a hint in here, but I don't get it (yet). It feels like an error textbox for a game, but that wouldn't help solving the riddle.
Conclusion: I guess the first word is "the" and it has to be a card that is iconic for it's set. For the sake of making a guess, I say The Lich King.
The 3 "o"s looks like a good place to go on. Cool, fool, pool. Hm.
it’s a minion, but not that one. as for the hint you requested, the de-scrambled answer contains 5 words. another nudge: perhaps you should try to think less about how iconic a card is in a set or Deck in order to pinpoint it, and more about how... flavorful it can be.
lastly, the mischievous spirits part isn’t meaningful in any way, it’s just an excuse to make an anagram.
i’m glad this take on the riddle is challenging, but if this isn’t that fun for you guys i’ll tone it down a bit
maybe its Dr. Boom, Mad Genius
Your guess is interesting... but nope
It’s not a collectible card is it?
it absolutely is. a hint: From what it seems, the card is just a bit confused as to the name of the set
If I've unscrambled this correctly, it reads 'Flippers of the Old Cods', which references the flavour text of...
Bloodhoof Brave?
Wow. This is insane.
ayyyyyy you did it!! i was starting to think i’d have to hint at a warrior Minion. nicely done, your turn!
Awesome! I've been wanting to join in this thread for a while, really chuffed I managed to solve that one :)
Now for my riddle. Enjoy!
It's a shame there's no room
In most decks for a groom
My brother, perhaps
Could have helped set some traps?
Oh no, wait... He's relapsed
this is A blind guess, but kirin tor mage? kabal lackey could be the addicted “brother”, but i don’t know about the groom part
Sigh. A lore one
Zul'jin
None of the above I'm afraid. To clarify: there is no lore involved in this card. They don't have an in-game brother in WoW.
moroes is a groom, so maybe that. maybe a minion with Deathrattle for the relapse part?
Interesting guess, but neither of the above is true.
So are you going to give a hint or is it the end of the thread?
I'm not sure about the etiquette on hint-giving, but as it's been a while I'll leave you with some additional info:
1. A specific word in the riddle gives away the class this card belongs to.
2. This card's brother is their antonym.
doubt this one but Dinotamer Brann
there isn’t really an etiquette, people mostly do it when they see the thread is dead and want to keep it moving
ram wrangler, maybe? the brother being hemet nesingwary
Thanks for the clarification on hints!
Unfortunately it's not Ram Wrangler, nor is it Dinotamer Brann.
A minion who helps setting traps is Professor Putricide but I don't see who his sibling might be or where a groom comes in. In a wider way of thinking about traps, Mok'Nathal Lion could be meant, possible brothers being Savannah Highmane and King of Beasts. Since the riddle indicates the card is rarely used and it fits the "groom" part better, I'll go with King of Beasts.
(Side note: maybe we're overthinking it and the groom is Stablemaster. Who could be her brother?)
It isn't King of Beasts I'm afraid
Another hint for everybody:
1. Think about other ways key words in the riddle could be used, or alternative meanings they have.
beastmaster? tol’vir warden? leoroxx?
None of those I'm afraid. I've just gone back through the guesses and have realised that the correct answer has been mentioned, but not given as a proper guess.
Mad Scientist?
Stablemaster?
Ding ding ding! Nice one! Over to you anchorm4n
For an explanation:
It's a shame there's no room -- Stablemaster hardly saw any play.
In most decks for a groom -- She 'grooms' beasts.
My brother, perhaps -- Her flavour text references her brother...
Could have helped set some traps? -- 'Traps' indicating that this was a Hunter card.
Oh no, wait... He's relapsed -- ... Her brother's name is jokingly given as 'unstablemaster', hence the idea of him relapsing.
I walk where no one else goes
I seek everybody's foes
True, I may be lacking some substance
But then, my danger can't be seen at first glance
Is it Ethereal Arcanist?
Nope.
voidcaller?
That's closer but not yet correct.
possessed lackey then
Still negative. You almost have it. It's not a Warlock card though.
Disguised Wanderer??
Nope, it's not a neutral card. Think more along the line of DeytroyerR's guesses.
I really must agree that the cake is a lie. For over a month now I switched to a meat and vegetable only diet, throwing out all the heavy breads and sugar drinks that were my daily guilty pleasures: even seem to have lost one or two pounds (not exercising hehe) and have gotten back a lot of energy and a lot less heartburn! Proteins and the stuff u find in plants is all your body needs, fellow fat gamers. Give it a try- the cake is a lie.
not a guess just a public service announcement ^ ^
A bit of a stretch, but Stonehill Defender?
Not that either. Another hint: the first line is about the card's name.
Is it... Netherwalker?
That's correct! Well done, you're next.
Yey! Since I love 'em, here's a wee cryptic crossword clue for you all:
Not for sitting president, then a Spanish hundred inside small insect.
Sigh.. why do some of you want to kill this thread?
there have been much longer hiatuses than this one, don’t worry
I just feel that it's a little unfair to limit the game to the one or two of us that are Mensa members or esoteric puzzle fans. Just me that feels this way?
Happy to give a clue if it's needed. I just haven't given one since a guess / prompt hasn't been posted.
Okay, let's see. First of all, I asume that we're looking at the name of the card again, broken into three pieces this time (remember the Incanter's Flow riddle?).
It should look like this:
*not for sitting president* - *small insect part 1* - *spanish word for "100"* - *small insect part 2*
The first part is tough. I guess THE president everyone would think of first is Trump. I don't know what's not for Trump though. Maybe it's just toying with his name and a trump card is meant. Or Trump, the streamer.
Second, a small insect. Ant, bug, fly, wasp, bee, ...
The third part is easy. Google says the spanish word for 100 is "cien" or "ciento".
Conclusion:
Hearthstone has quite a few cards that use "ancient". That would fit the second and the third part. I still don't understand the first part of the riddle, but the only collectible cards that have a word before "ancient" are Blessing of the Ancients and Forbidden Ancient.
I'll take the riddle by word and guess it's Forbidden Ancient because "of the" doesn't fit and the plural -s wasn't hinted at either.
(@Live4vrRdieTryn: I agree that this kind of riddle looks really hard at first glance, but if you try to solve them systematically, you usually get near enough. My post was a work in progress, I had no idea what my guess would be when I started typing.)
Awesome stuff, that's bang on! Your thinking was on the right track with the Not for sitting president part of the clue. For Trump was the right way to go, the Not part indicating to take the opposite. In this case, the opposite would literally be For Biden, from which you can get Forbidden.
Back to you anchorm4n.
well, since nobody even tried the riddle (and the first one to guess it was right as you saw), i feel like there’s not much grounds to say the riddle was too hard. as long as it isn’t like, impossible, it’s a nice challenge, at least for me
I'll follow Dermostatic's example and try my hands at this kind of riddle. It's probably a little easier ;-)
A winged predator
A feral weapon
A gesture of respect
eaglehorn bow!
That's correct! You're next, DestroyerR.
Alright, this one may be a little too much outside of the box, but I’ve been setting it up for too long to not do it:
In order for this riddle to be completed
A research of history is direly needed
This enigma is very meta, I’ll confess
Just remember to look for capitals in my mess
I think I know where this is going but it will take some time to solve. I'll try to have a look this afternoon or tonight. If it is what I think it is, it's genius!
First of all, your statement about having set this up for a long time and the "history research" make me quite sure that you have hidden the answer in your riddles all over this thread. You told us to "look for capitals", so I went through fourty.fucking.nine pages and wrote down all the capital letters. They make no sense at all:
AIIIAIIMIYIIIAMIIIIHBBOIITSIIIIIIOGIIAHCCMCHMAHWRWHSTATOWHQWAIATIJ
I also tried leaving out the "I"s whenever there only was an "I" in the riddle, also to no avail:
AAMYAMHBBOTSOGIAHCCMCHMAHWRWHSTATOWHQWAIATJ
Last but not least, I wrote down all the words with capital letters (without the "I"s). That went to hell as well:
Alona Alas My Yet As My He Beyond But Oobdi Taunt Stab OG If Attack Health Cost Cost My Cost Health My Attack Health Who Rarity Who HS Twins A Think Oh While Here Q What A In This Just
Maybe those words are a riddle theirself, but I can't find any meaning in there yet. Does anyone else?
For the sake of making a guess after all this effort, I go with Illidan Stormrage because of "Alas" and "Twins" and lots of "Attack"s.
Think bigger :^) you’re definitely on the right track. Let me just say that any posts after I posted the riddle (including the riddle post itself) does not count towards what you’re trying to do.
I've been scouring DestroyerR's forum history too, and have noticed that particular posts have, to put it one way, awkward capitalisation.
I am, however, no closer to a guess.
Wait...
Is it Meat Wagon?
ayyyyyyyyyyyy
well done Dermostatic! I can finally use normal capitalization again, it has been a nightmare lol
True enough, between the interview riddle and the current one there are some outstanding capitalizations. I gathered (in chronological order):
MTTALWDFMASD
Plesae don't tell me that's an anagram again. It's sorely missing vowels. Edit 1: Found the vowels, they were hiding in a comment. USOKTYOLERTEPAE
Edit 2: @Dermostatic please explain the solution to us!
Happy to! :)
Starting off, anchorm4n, you absolutely clued me in on how to go about this puzzle with your earlier post about capital letters, so I give you full points for thinking about this the right way. I'd been scouring Mech minions for random capitals (à la SN1P-SN4P) and trying to decipher DestroyerR's posts in this thread for hidden capital cities or misplaced capital letters.
In terms of my process, I started noticing some awkward capitalisation here and there on this thread, but didn't get much from that alone. So, I went into the mess of DestroyerR's forum posts. Not just here in the Treasure Hunt, but the full list you can find on a user's homepage.
I worked backwards, which is why it took me some time. We were told that we needed to know history, and I figured that DestroyerR had been working on this for a while, but (thankfully) not for years. Like you anchorm4n my initial search was to gather as many capital letters as possible from all posts I could read in about 30 minutes, which yielded no results and a mild headache. Then, I noticed that some of the posts I'd read had interesting capitalisation. Most noticeable was that these posts all had lowercase writing, with one glaring capital letter. The first one I stumbled upon was this post from about a month ago:
moroes is a groom, so maybe that. maybe a minion with Deathrattle for the relapse part?
Proper punctuation but improper capitalisation? I thought this had to be a clue, so I noted the letter "D" in a separate document. I kept going back and gathered some more letters. Some posts were in this thread, some were in the card design competition thread; heck, one was in a thread about whether or not to disenchant your trash legendaries!
i don’t know about others, but i pretty much never disenchant cards i don’t have two of. who knows what whacky fun decks you’ll be able to create down the line? in fact, i even go so far as to not dust even a packfiller Minion. you never know...
8. possibly. the important thing to remember is that there’s a reason why I presented this riddle With an interview: the card is genuinely trying to answer the question conventionally (Card Treasure Hunt)
9. well, maybe a bit Less outside of the box… the anagram does answer the interview question coherently (meaning it’s closer to a set), but consider this: if the anagram only reveals the set, how come that alone is enough to discover the card? (Card Treasure Hunt)
10. i think you may want to change the text. choose one isn’t formatted that way, and the text is barging into the Attack box (Two Quests Are Better Than One - Card Design Competition)
11. that makes a lot of sense. much better to have a little extra text (which can be put into spoilers, so not even that) during the final vote Than potentially making a card lose unfairly because of lack of context (WCDC Idea: "Description from the creator" should be visible during the Final Voting stage)
12. if you want to make This a hagatha reference, there’s already a murloc hagatha art you can use (Two Quests Are Better Than One - Card Design Competition)
13. i don’t know about others, but i pretty much never disenchant cards i don’t have two of. who knows what whacky fun decks you’ll be able to create down the line? in fact, i even go so far as to not dust even a packfiller Minion. you never know… (Disenchant trash tier (and other) legendaries?)
Wow, incredible work from both of you. I wouldn't have been able to solve this even if I had gotten the letters right. Well played!
Dude, we got Sherlock Holmes up in here lol
glad the riddle was well-enjoyed!
Here we go again:
Apple initially, then approximately Pi. All behind lots of blood curtailed with that feminine Latin and a machine.
[Hearthstone Card (Animated Berzerker) Not Found]?
Afraid not.
Hint: 'All behind' indicates that the first sentence is actually the second part of this card's name.
Goru the Mightree?
Nope, although I see some of the clues in this guess :) You're on the right track
Twig of the World Tree?
The only thing I'm quite sure I got right is "approximately Pi" - that should be 3 = three = tree. "gore" would have been fitting for the "lots of blood" part...
Not the card I'm thinking of; however, your thoughts on 'approximately Pi' and 'lots of blood' are both correct.
Gorillabot A-3!
lot's of blood = gore
*don't speak Latin*
machine = bot
apple's initial = A
approximately pi = 3
Nice one :-)
Fantastic, you got it! The Latin word for 'that' in the feminine gender is illa, hence the clue :)
Over to you!
a rich German plate equipped with a danger noodle and a precious orb third class aesthetics
(sorry, I had to edit the riddle because I remembered something wrong)
Is it Madame Lazul?
That's right! Well done, you're next.
Took me a while to work out danger noodle. Hadn't a clue that was an actual meme :P
I have a class. I have a tribe. I could also have none, or another if I tried.
What am I?
Class card that has something to do with multiple minion types... are there even any of those?
I guess it's a transforming minion. The only one which has a tribe in its original form is Chameleos.
Ding ding ding! That's the one :) Over to you anchorm4n.
Omg I can’t believe I missed that..
oh nvm the guess was there when I saw it
