Odd behavior with "everywhere" buffs?

Submitted 4 years, 7 months ago by

I was goofing around playing some Poro decks, and noticed that when a buffed Poro gets recalled, they lose their Poro Snax buffs. At some level, this makes sense - recall typically removes buffs. But the Poro Snax buff applies "everywhere" and gets applied to any randomly generated Poro even after the Poro Snax are played.

Not sure if this is technically a bug, but it's not terribly intuitive - the Poros I have can lose the buff, but the Poros that don't yet exist have it.

They get the buff, wherever they are, but once recalled, they don't get it back, since they already had it.

Yeah I experienced this as well. I think I would change it so that "everywhere" buffs persist through recalls and similar effects, since decks that currently make use of these types of buffs aren't that strong anyway.

    I think its not intended.

When a spider is buffed through Iceborn Legacy, every other spider token also gets the plus bonus when spiders are summoned, even if they didn't exist by the time Iceborn Legacy was casted.

So It makes no sense they would lose the buff when it gets back to the hand... and its even debatable if effects like Purify should work on them.

Purify works because it removes "all text" from a follower. This includes the text that classifies the card as a "Spider". Now it's been a while since it happened to me, but if you recall a purified card, it will regain it's text.

At least it cuts both ways when it comes to losing buffs and debuffs.

Wait, what? Are you certain? It removes the tribal class as well???
So that means its possible to prevent Elise from leveling up by casting Purify on a spider?
How does that even work... do the follower and everybody else forget the spider was a spider... hahahaha, weird :)

Im about 90% certain that it still counts as a Spider, given that Purify specifies “Text and Keywords” and does NOT include faction. I’m also pretty sure that if you silence a Spider while Elise on the the board the spider should also keep its Fearsome and challenger, so if “Everywhere” is intended to work like an aura from a spell, purify really shouldn’t remove the buff.
