  • New Shaman Spell - Don't Stand in the Fire!

    Staff

Minefield and Dark Skies were already annoying enough, this doesn't even hit your own minions. We will have to wait and see, if 5 cost is too much, but most likely not and will massacre early boards by itself and/or let shaman push the advantage created for himself. I already don't like this card.

  • Aura Bug

I actually did not take any damage when attacking, even after switching weapons (played the poison on Kingsbane initially). Just tested the interaction again.

  • New Shaman Spell - Don't Stand in the Fire!

Volcano that deals 5 less damage, but overloads 1 less. Oh and it also targets only enemy minions, that's i.m.o. better than all minions. Great board clear if you ask me. Volcano still sees play every so often, so i don't see why Don't Stand in the Fire! wont.

Standard: Must-include in control/OTK shaman decks, Don't Stand in the Fire! really helps those decks survive.... Now that i say that, uhmm.. hey... OTK players.. uhm... i tried to say that it's a 0/10 card, so uh.. you *definatly* should NOT include this in your bolner Y'shaarj OTK decks. Oh and obviously Questline shamans will love this.

Wild: Honestly idunno. Volcano vs Don't Stand in the Fire! is going to be a really interesting thing to watch. I'm really interested to see if the -5 damage dealth in exchange for not damaging your own minions and 1 less overload is worth it.

Also i REALLY love the flavor of this card. It also really reminds me of a certain Captain Grim video lol.

  • Hearthstone Designer Cora Georgiou Shares Insights on the New Mini-Set Cards

Based on her Spawn of Deathwing comment I guess we can expect 3 more mini dragons.  The real question is which ones, and what effect?

My guess: at first I was thinking mini Aspects.  But I’m leaning mire towards mini versions of black dragons.  So maybe the other three are Spawns of Nefarion, Onyxia, and Sinestra.

Nefarion: Rogue card, generates a spell from either your opponent’s class or just another class.

Onyxia: maybe Neutral, summon two 2/1 whelps with rush.

Sinestra: Not sure as we don’t have an actual Sinestra minion.  Maybe we’ll see one this set and then the Spawn will just have a lesser version of her effect.

    Carry on, friend!

    Good luck!

  • Fractured in Alterac Valley Mini-set Predictions - What Could Hearthstone's Next Cards Bring?

Pretty sure Galakrond's Awakening also included mechanics from the entire year. I know people don't call it a mini-set, but it still was an additional 35 cards added to a normal expansion cycle. The method of acquisition just involved completing a solo adventure, and it was a bit more expensive.

  • 7 New Hearthstone Cards Revealed for Onyxia's Lair

It's still early to judge, but my first two cents on these cards are what follows.

    - Spawn of Deathwing - Needs to be justified. Warlock has better removal and little Discard synergy.

    - Deep Breath - Fire Mage support and, sadly, No Minion Mage support. See above.

    - Lightmaw Netherdrake - Really, really good card: the actual gameplay will have to show how easy (or hard) that condition is to meet, but other than that it's a 2022 Duskbreaker that can go in non-Dragon decks.

    - Onyxian Drake - Removal is not what the class needs right now, which is card draw.

    - Onyxian Warder  - Arena card.

    - Don't Stand in the Fire! - Very interesting, depending on the meta. Perpetual Flame's big brother.

    - Whelp Bonker - Sleeper of the set.

  • Aura Bug

It could be a display bug. I think I saw this from reddit somewhere. You will still take damage its just that its showing the immune animation while you're attacking.

I haven't seen this myself to be honest, having played my share of weapon rogue in duels.

  • Missing background image for Brilliant Macaw in HS decklists

FYI, the pretty background image for Brilliant Macaw is currently missing in HS decklists.

You can notice this in one of my decklists over here.

  • BREAKING THE META WITH MY QUESTLINE PRIEST DECK IN WILD! Fractured in Alterac Valley | Hearthstone

I have been running a version of this quest, and this deck looks good. I likely would replace a 2 and a 3 for another 7 and 8. The purpose is to get the shard quickly before dying in wild.

  • 7 New Hearthstone Cards Revealed for Onyxia's Lair

    Quote From dapperdog

    - Spawn of Deathwing is probably only ever going to see play in a theoretical zoolock, but because its effect is random and it discards a card from your hand, Im not optimistic. Had this discarded from the deck it would have been nuts, but it doesn't, so that's too bad.

Since discarding from your deck is basically not discarding at all, then yeah, that would be nutty enough that it would raise some serious concerns that the devs have completely given up on reigning in power creep. I'm glad it has not got so far that an over-statted, tribal minion with a powerful and always beneficial effect doesn't also have a real downside. Frankly I miss the days I could describe warlock class design as balancing powerful upsides with downsides; for years the downsides have either been absent or just more upsides in disguise.

Well no with amount of aggro we having lately, prieat warrior and shaman ones might see ladder play

  • Hearthstone Mercenaries Gets a Limited-Time Event Soon, Pandaria Characters Added as New Mercenaries

    Sad the event is gated.
It should be accessable for everyone

  • Aura Bug

I haven't had the chance to check this interaction for long as the build was terrible, but it seems that Paralytic Poison is considered an aura effect in Duels? I had it played on one weapon and was immune for any attack with weapons after that (even switching weapons)

  • Fractured in Alterac Valley Mini-set Predictions - What Could Hearthstone's Next Cards Bring?

Uah! You totally nailed it! Kudos for this impressive article.

  • New Neutral Minion - Whelp Bonker

Great card! It's 3 mana draw 1 at worst and it can draw more cards if it honorably kills something. It's like a slightly worse Acolyte of Pain because of the Honorable kill, but it does still work well with buffs. Bless priest can probably use Whelp Bonker well, but Paladin is going to have trouble after the expansion considering the entire libram package rotates. I guess handbuff paladin could use it instead though.

Also in terms of draw it might be worse than the other options we have RIGHT NOW, but most card draw rotates next expansion! Look at classes like rogue, which will lose cards like Secret Passage, Cutting Class and Swindle. A LOT of classes are going to lose most of their card draw, which means that cards like Whelp Bonker might become one of the best cards in standard. Don't sleep on cards that are going to be good after rotation, because the rotation is going to be in like 2 ish months already.

  • New Neutral Minion - Onyxian Warder

Good stats and decent effect. Seems good.. for arena. And i guess some dragon decks might run it. Maybe some Duels deck can utilise it as well? It needs some good support in order to be worth running in your deck. At least it has some immediate impact on board, so it might see play... Not sure in what deck, but it does have potential.

  • New Warrior Minion - Onyxian Drake

Yeti with taunt, AND it has Shield Slam build in? Now thats AMAZING. Worst case scenario it's a yeti with taunt, which isn't that bad. It also had synergy with Glory Chaser i guess? Might be important if they scale back card draw i guess. Oh an it's a decent ress target for N'Zoth, God of the Deep i guess? Even though that rotates next expansion. :[

Standard: 100% will see play in control warrior, even though that decks is trash right now. It also might see play in Charge warrior, as that deck has a lot of armor.

Wild:  EVEN cost, so maybe EVEN warrior experiments with it? But that deck is not that good if i recall correctly. Probably wont see play honestly, as the best warrior decks are either Pirate warrior or ODD Warrior.

  • New Priest Minion - Lightmaw Netherdrake

Duskbreaker that needs 2 spell types to work. Well Duskbreaker was one of the best board clears in the game when it was last in standard and is still a must-include in dragon priest decks in wild even though those are very rare. We did get Spirit Guide, so getting those spells in quite easy. Not only that, but the shadow and holy spells are pretty good. Lightmaw Netherdrake to me seems like a really good option for control priests, as they often have to "tempo out" Xyrella in order to clear the board early on. This seems like a solid card against aggro, and priest needed another early clear that is not Xyrella or the very situation dependand Hysteria. (Sometimes Hysteria is really bad, especially against token/aggro decks with lots of smaller minions.) However 3 damage might not be good enough those days.

Oh and Hysteria rotates next expansion, so that will only solidify Lightmaw Netherdrakes position as one of priests best control tools.

Standard: Will see play in Quest priest, that deck runs plenty of shadow and holy spells and needs more control tools. However to me the most interesting thing will be Deathrattle control decks. Those often run Vanndar Stormpike, and it will be interesting to see if those decks will abandon Vanndar Stormpike and include cards like Lightmaw Netherdrake and Xyrella again.

Wild: This might see play/experimentation in reno priest decks i guess? It certainly wont see play in Big/ress priest decks. Dragon priest might also experiment with it.

  • New Mage Spell - Deep Breath

Very interesting card, but you will generally need 4-5 spells in hand. If you don't have that then Deep Breath won't be worth playing. This means it's best in BIG spell decks. However most of those also run the Wildfire/Heropower package, which means it fights with Wildfire for the Magister Dawngrasp recast. And Deep Breath is also bad alongside Iceblood Tower (Which is also not a good card)

And in terms of clearing the board, Fire Sale often does everything that Deep Breath wants to do, but way better. Fire Sale also has tradeable so it's also card draw.

Standard: Might see experimentation at best, probably in Big spell mage decks that don't run the heropower package and just play big spells. (Which is still fun)

Wild: Won't see play, not even in Big spell mage decks. This is because Big spell mage in wild has Dragon's Fury which is also better in pretty much every way.

  • New Warlock Minion - Spawn of Deathwing

Hmm this is a interesting card. Unfortunately it does target a RANDOM enemy minion, but it does have some good stats.

Standard: Lacks synergy. There isn't a discardlock deck in standard right now, and zoolock isn't doing that well.... Hand of Gul'dan is in standard, but it will rotate next expansion. Spawn of Deathwing will need some serious support in future sets so the downside can become an upside. Also in terms of removing 1 minion, Brittlebone Destroyer is still in standard and it's way better, but sees no play. Spawn of Deathwing is at its best in a meta where the board matters, and as long as they keep pushing board battles again i'm happy.

Wild: Discardlock is a playable deck, which will experiment with Spawn of Deathwing. It might be too slow at 5 mana, BUT it does have a lot of potential. I'm looking forward to see if it makes the cut.

  • 7 New Hearthstone Cards Revealed for Onyxia's Lair

Since it starts at 1 damage, I think you'd need only 3 spells in hand (Deep Breath itself and 2 others) to match the damage of Fire Sale.

I do agree though that it doesn't look very good: Fire Sale being Tradeable is very useful, so I don't see Deep Breath replacing it, while I also don't think any deck would run this in addition to Fire Sale.

In theory the fact that this doesn't damage your own board could be useful, but if you care about your own board you probably won't have enough spells in your hand to power this, plus you wouldn't want to spend 5 mana on something that doesn't add a body to the board.

  • Onyxia's Lair

Perhaps. Or it just became too cluttered putting all 9 on the screen at once.

  • Onyxia's Lair

I expect so yes. It's normal for these special/story tasks to require you to complete specific bounties, and you only have access to a bounty when you have beaten all the ones before it within that zone. You won't have to do them on Heroic though, so you won't need your mercs to be super powerful to do it.
