I don't understand how anyone could be offended over something as trivial as this. I've been playing this game for 4 years and I wasn't bothered by it in the slightest. It's not like they completely hid the other modes; all you have to do is click "Modes" and you'll find the rest there. Besides, Tavern Brawl has been dead for a loooong time, so removing it from the main menu just feels right. Does anyone still get excited over Tavern Brawls?
This is just another instance of people hating on change. You'll get used to it, it's really not that big a deal.
Thats because most ppl are missing the actual point in this new Layout:
HS is a video game, Battlegrounds is another and Mercenaries will be another different game as well. Think of it as HS on Battlenet client is just another client that spawns 3 different games that are linked together in terms of themes.
Tavern Brawls Duels Arena are just Modes, variations of HS constructed
I am not offended (why should I it's a game after all) though I consider the whole UI to be well let's say far from optimal. I get the point that the box is somewhat iconic (is it really?) but I think that this is a rather weak argument. One of the key principles of modern design is that form follows function. In this case it is the other way round. Imo bad design but nothing to be offended about (slightly annoyed maybe).
P.S. I bet that they will not change it any time soon
A streamer wining a couple of games with some deck does not mean the deck is any good. Grapplr has posted video were he won games with meme deck at masters. Should we considers those deck to be competitively viable?
Also Cailtyn/Teemo is currently siting at a 51% win rate according to both Mobalytics and Dak.GG.
I created an account to leave this comment. Thank you!
This sentiment, that the dedicated player base, and the loudest prevailing attitudes within it, are one of the biggest problems the game has. Resonated deeply with me.
I love Hearthstone. I play it a lot. And I can never recommend it to friends. From some players in game taking every opportunity to be as rude as possible, to the biggest forum on the game, the main Hearthstone subreddit, generally being an insufferable cess pit, to every twitter thread and stream chat being filled with comments ranging from non-constructive to outright hateful.
The community is so toxic it often detracts from my enjoyment of the game. Every time I talk about the game to a friend I always have to add "but the community is awful" I hate having to give that warning and it makes every recommendation feel like a poisoned chalice
I agree with the sentiment that a friendly atmosphere would be better... But my goodness, I can't help but think a post like this will do nothing but help it get worse.
A few more ideas for cards, because I do have quite a lot of fun making them, which means the game could have a lot of potential in case it was in development. New keywords are explained in the document, aswell as further info.
The winrate says it all man Temo Catalyn is like 40% and I win every mirror match.
Like I said, I'll find a deck she makes sense in once I can craft her. Likely it will be a list where you can truly capitalize on free pings. Maybe you pair her with zillian time bombs.
So now you're just decimating all those swarmy decks popular on ladder right now. Again I care about leveling Catalyn about as much as people care about leveling Draven.
If it happens it happens but usually you just want the 3/3 quick attack and axes, in this case we just want the flash bombs.
‐---------edit-------
Graplr literally just released this video with prank Catalyn because again hand disruption is a control tool, and so are flash bombs

So I guess I was proven right.
Like temo is in there as a 1 drop without shroom support but you might as well just use stinky wump and get a higher value champion.
4th September update: Boltzmann's Reno Shudderwock Shaman to Diamond 5: Ignoring Warlocks & Having Fun!
This deck felt like a light in the darkness for me. Taking me through the ladder, like the times of old. Reminding me of a time when I could play Shudderwock Shaman and enjoy Hearthstone... before Seedlock arrived.
Your talking about Caitlyn? At the moment it make little sense to play her without Teemo. Without the mushroom package, you just won't level her up in any consistent manner. If she had more ( good ) cards that can put flashbomb in the opponent deck, I could see her being played in Noxus control with swain.
Offended? No, because that is too strong of a word choice for me personally. Semantics aside, to open the Hearthstone app and seeing the Hearthstone game mode does feel truly weird, almost like opening a Matroesjka doll. They probably could have chosen a more suitable word like: Constructed.
Thanks Flux for doing the hard work for us ♡ After reading how much steps the first one has, I was ready to give up. Then I´ve decided to give it a try with your tool to see how it works and I did it first time :) It wasn´t that much pain as I thought it would be (or how it would be without your help).
For the second one, I wasn´t able to understand the tactic, so I´ve just put the numbers in your Calculator and followed the instructions - easy peasy! Thanks again Flux and all involved - I wouldn´t figure it out in million years. Cheers! :)))
I'm an Arena and Battlegrounds fan so maybe I'm a little biased, but I really don't enjoy seeing:
Hearthstone
Battlegrounds
Mercenaries
Modes
You open up modes to find Arena, Solos, Duels and Tavern Brawls. Would it have been so much to ask to split the 4 main bars into 1/8's and also add in practice mode to make up the 8th?
It just seems clumsy and rushed to me. I feel it's tacky and out of place. They should know better and I hope they change it soon!
Why are you so enraged at something that's completely optional? You and nobody else has any obligation to complete these puzzles, you are free to play constructed or battlegrounds or whatever you enjoy. And besides, these types of puzzles are not designed for an individual to complete, although it's entirely possible (Trump completed the Barrens puzzles on his own).
I feel like saying making cards after developers to acknowledge their work a narcissistic practice is like saying putting your name in a movie's credits is also narcissistic.
"I believe this was a great learning experience for them"
Blizzard didn't learn from Diablo Immortal. So they don't learn about poor new game announcements. The people good at them left Blizzard a long time ago.
I agree with a number of these points but saying players are ruining the game doesn't sit well for me, I don't think that should be the shorthand for the toxic people harassing and attacking devs/others.
Would be better of if they don't use packs/lootboxes as income source. If they intended to make this like all mobile games, just sell coins directly. or unique characters. But they did still chose the lootbox which I think is bad for at first impression, since it totally makes the game sounds pay to win.
Why not let us test the game, and then later sell the bundle? If the game is good, players at least have reason to buy it. But to sell the bundle like this immediately make a very clear statement to the player that they want money first, goodies later. Also, people who want to spent it have to wait like a month before knowing exactly what they bought? That is bad marketing.
Personally, I doubt this mode would be popular, but since they make it part of Hearthstone, they have reason to believe that some players can be persuaded to like it.
Lastly, why must this mode instead of the mode that players have asked for years? Tournament mode for example. They have proved that they can make a new mode no matter hard by focusing people and resources into it, why not do it for Tournament first? Fact like this makes me questions their purpose of making games. Is it for them or us the players? They could've made some income by selling tickets to play tournament.

Avalon's 12 Wins Questline Mage
I am so happy that you appreciate our content ;)
Shaman is pretty doable I'd say, since the class has 3 different viable archetypes in Murloc, Overload and Elemental.
Druid is pretty one sided: other than Quest Druid (wins against Priest but terribly loses against Paladin), there's just Harvest Time! aggro builds.
Paladin is the weak spot of mine: I can't really bring myself to perform well with the class, even if I get some good treasures.
More content will come soon, so stay tuned!

I also disagree: without puffcaps Caitlyn makes way less sense to be played because she cares a lot about any kind of trap including puffcaps.
If anything you can debate whether her flashbomb package is good enough since to me it looks way weaker than the puffcap one.
