Love the name. The effect seems really good, though I must admit it gives me a headache trying to come up with perfect combo plans with him. Definitely need to just play around and get a feel for when and where to best use him.
You're overthinking. He goes in literally every Rogue deck, and you'll know how to use him when he's in your hand. It will be different every time, and there's no "best" way -- unless you have a very specific combo you need to pull off.
I've been playing VERY casually since late beta. About a year in, I set myself three goals:
1) Get 500 wins with all classes (finally got that last summer with rogue. I've now amended it to 1000 wins, with paladin and shaman already there)
2) Get legend rank (the progression revamp really helped me there, and I got it last September)
3) Collect a full golden Classic (now Legacy) set -- no crafting (I'm about 75% there. I cheated a bit when the Hall of Fame was announced by using the refund "bonus" to craft golden versions of all the cards going into the Hall)
I intend to actively pursue that last goal once Classic mode is implemented by splitting my gold purchases between the mini-sets/current expansions and Classic packs. Hopefully, I should be done in about a year, which will only leave the 1000-win goal to complete. I'm still having fun playing at my pace, and I expect to be playing for many years to come!
Excellent, that Goblins cardback was 1 of the remaining ones I missed in the past. I am so happy that I will finally be able to add it to my collection later today.
To me, the more important implication of all this is that Year of the Phoenix packs should be subject to the "first ten" rule -- right? Since this is technically a new and different type of pack where the pity timer is concerned?
If I'm still missing a couple of last year's legendaries, they should show up in these packs within the first ten Brawls?
This is a cool card. Should see lots of play. For existing popular Rogue decks, it most likely gives you free cards to abuse in your combo turns, and it even opens up some options for Rogue decks to run some higher cost minions, but not play them at full price (to enable even more shenanigans). Also, love the name of the card!
The funniest thing to me about the comparison to Consecration here is the total lack of recognition about how strong Pure Paladin is right now, particularly because they play for the board in the early game and then pair Consecration with Libram of Justice in the mid to late game to wipe out the enemy board and push damage to face.
Warrior has Lord Barov to pair with Rancor to make it a "kill all minions, gain tons of armor," and they also have tons of ways to add on little chunks of damage to power up this AOE (Whirlwind, Bladestorm and Whirling Combatant - maybe even Minefield). These combos aren't as powerful as older Warrior AOE effects like any Armor Gain spell + Reckless Flurry or Whirlwind + Sleep with the Fishes, but that doesn't make them bad.
I'm sitting on 30 classic packs. Got all my classic collection and HoFd cards. So, this changes nothing to whether I open them now or in a month, right? I'll keep saving them to see what happens in the future.
I am such a Hammock fan, especially business hammocks found down in the Hammock District. I don't know how I would do the puzzle from a Hammock, but I will find a way.
It's more like it wouldn't be much of a list if almost everyone picked Wrenchcalibur. ;) Hearthstone didn't really figure out a good way to handle weapon decks. You end with cases where they are too powerful if not removed, or made completely useless by some tech cards.
I started playing in Jan 2020 and only just completed the Classic Rares collection. I'll probably not touch Classic mode, as my collection isn't great, and I'm not interested in going back in time to a Hearthstone I didn't know.
Also, something about Ysera's dream cards being changed, so one can get a full dust refund on her, which I'll be doing. My Classic Legendaries were all just garbage.
There's so much going on. I'm just confused all the time, and I always feel like I might be missing out on some dust here or XP there (FU Yogg wheel achievement) or whatever. Resource management is OK and can even be a little fun, but I think Iksar said in an AMA that he doesn't want people worrying about resources, he wants people playing. I agree.
That was rather long-winded. Please refer to my upcoming book "Hearthstone: Title Overwhelming" for more.
I am halfway through level 318. The last few days I've been grinding (playing a lot of hours) a meme big demon Demon Hunter in dumpster legend (standard) this month trying to get DH leveled up to 60 before Core launches. I have 19,600 gold saved - have not used a coin since Darkmoon Faire's launch day (bought most pack bundles, after using previous gold to supplement pre-ordered DMF packs).
I will buy the Tavern pass again for Forged in the Barrens because I like the XP boost and I think the cosmetics this time around are excellent. I don't yet know how much of my 19,000+ gold I will use on packs at Barrens launch - I think I will see how my legendary take is after I open my pre-order bundles.
This has got me wondering if I create a taven or fireside for my house if I can open my packs then instead of having to wait for the day before. This ultimately is the reason why I wanted to know if anyone else knew.
@Sakyo, thanks for that intel. I created my fireside for Saturday so that I can take advantage of it.
@FortyDust, I don't know. I've heard both sides of the argument with this one. One side stated that once the pack is issued to the player that the card are "pre-determined". The other side stated that it will go off of the current standard meta available. If it were the latter, I think that would be awesome to keep your class packs and open them when a new expansion comes around.
Even facing against those two cards, whether mirror or otherwise, they never bothered me, but Wrenchcalibur, with how easy it is for warrior to fish out a weapon, and then keep adding damage and durability, and returning it to existence... that card alone for a while became Auto Concede, when it hit the board. There was no solution for the weapon, or the bombs it put into your deck in addition to that Weapon alone being a direct counter to a few decks, any highlander deck, Pure Pally (which I really enjoyed playing), and I think the bombs didn't count as spells, so also ruined Spell Mage, which got almost 0 support while it was active. 1 card alone could ruin the ability for so many decks to literally work... but it's mage cards that got all the hate. just don't understand it.
I mostly like your Core set beside Bullet Time (which can easily be solved if it is ever problematic by nerfing the Mana cost). Black Hole Eclipse absolutely need the Shadow tag.
Question: Do you plan to put the Arcane tag on your "Time" spells? I think it's a major decision that will impact your set synergy with spell school going forward.
Spells from other set that I think should have the new tribal tag on them:
Wow she looks so much different now.(Yes this is sarcasm)
Anyway just give the poor girl +1 attack so that she doesn't die to Culling Strike in her level 2 form. Lee Sin have better stat for the same price and that guy can generate a barrier every turn.
You scared me with the title of this article. I opened my ~30 classic packs when in a Q&A Dean said that there's no reason not to open them right then. Thankfully i already have the Hall of Fame cards, so it doesn't matter.
