Ok, I complained earlier today because I had no idea about MtG or Mythgard, so I thought I'd never clear those clues. However, I've just finished all the clues, so it means that someone who has never touched those games can solve everything as long as they think a bit... or just goes to the card list and starts clicking on whatever card feels like it's similar to the sentence like I did xD
Did anyone else notice as they were reading how many decks were from the Rastakhan’s Rumble era? For as much as that set is generally disparaged by the community, seems like they (blizzard) must have got something right. I believe it was a pullback in terms of power level versus the sets that immediately preceded it , but I just thought it was interesting that so many folks who contributed are nostalgic for that time.
Odd warrior, Galakrond priest are the two main decks I enjoy. But there will always be a place in my heart for my Inspire Paladin which made full use of my golden copies of Murloc Knight and Mukla's Champion (the two greatest cards EVER printed in Hearthstone history, don’t try to change my mind
I'm going to add a Snowflake leaderboard for total collected, which was surprisingly absent initially (derp), but no plan for individual totals (if people want this, let us know and we can definitely find a place to put it). Currently, you can check your site achievements to see snowflake counts when you hit certain milestones.
I'll answer your first bit - I usually reserve my own hint giving until later on :D
For Magic Card clues, visiting any card that has the same name will work. I won't say that will always be true though because I do want to leave it open for us to make clues that would force you to go to a particular card with art from a specific artist or perhaps a card from a certain set.
I can definitely confirm though that this round any card with the same name will trigger the clues.
Oh it's a Tavern Brawl? I think I remember now. I knew I had seen a spiky snowball, but I was going through the collectable cards and couldn't find anything. I didn't go through every card, I was going to look for hints first.
Looking to get back into Runeterra. Played heavily during the launch. Had a decent collection (and 60K crafting materials). Don't mind crafting/using wilds on new cards. But don't want to spend much on pricey Champions.
So yeah, I am looking for deck suggestions. New decks with mostly older cards. I will of coarse read them over and see if any click with me.
The game begins with 4 Large Waxy Gifts in play for each player. The gifts are 0 mana 0/4s with the Deathrattle to give your opponent a random Legendary, and reduce its cost by 3.
Basically, play Shaman because Evolve removes all the gifts and gives you four 1-drops, and Sea Giant and Mogu Fleshshaper are 2 and 1 mana respectively and equally broken Evolve targets.
My personal favorite deck is any sort of infinite-value Shudderwock shaman. Right now I have a "Cthulhu Shaman" that uses both yoggs, the new C'thun, and the new Y'shaarj with Shudderwock to get some crazy results. One game my shudderwock cast about 40-50 spells in a single turn using both of the Yogg battlecries. My game crashed after that.
I walked into this brawl having no idea what the rules were. I played hunter and auto-completed my deck, and in the first round my opponent instantly conceded before I could see my hand. I still don't know what the rules of this tavern brawl are.
The deck that got me really hooked to Hearthstone was Tempo Mage. Turn 2 Mana Wyrm (1 costed at the time) into Coin into Sorcerer's Apprentice into vomiting out as many spells as possible was quite hard to counter and we haven't even talked about Flamewaker yet. The current Quest Mage lists in Wild should give you an idea what I mean. Mana Wyrm and Flamewaker got me to rank 10 eventually which was a big thing for me at the time. I've tried to reconstruct the deck from memory as best as I could:
I equally love my Mech Hunter list for two reasons. First of, I figured this deck out before it became meta. Realizing that magnetic basically means charge was something that only occurred to most people when Genn and Baku got kickbanned from standard. And second, after it became meta and was optimized by people who are way better at deckbuilding than I'll ever be, I actually managed to pilot this to legend - a feat I had never imagined to be able to accomplish.
Thanks for this event guys! It's really fun. I have a question about the MTG cards, since lots of Magic cards have been reprinted, do we have to go to a specific version of that card, or will any version work?
Also, if you guys don't mind giving hints, I haven't found numbers 3, 6, and 7 on the Mythguard ones, and the first two on the Magic ones.
I can't make any promises about throwing things at people in other events, I want them to feel unique, but that uniqueness with all of the events we do on the site and having special stuff available for each one is definitely going to happen. Activities that can bring the community together and have some fun are very important to me.
I've already got a large list of stuff I want to see for next year's winter event, we'll see how much of it actually makes it into that one and what else might get repurposed into other events next year.
