  • New Deck With Older Cards

Did you quit before or after Bilgewater? Bilgewater champs still see a lot of play, but the ones that came after those aren't really all that necessary. I recommend going to mobalytics or swimstrim's website and checking the decks there. There should still be a good amount of viable decks that only run older champs though.

As FrostyFeet said, Shen/Fiora, Ezreal/Draven and SI aggro are all decks that mostly use older cards, champs especially.

Huge +1 to Avalon's iteration of control priest. That is by far the most fun control deck I have ever played. Mostly because it doesn't play like a traditional where you do little to nothing the first turns and then play a slow spell per turn to keep your opponent at bay. No, this deck seeks to actively fight for the board with its own minions and keep that board under control, all the while chipping at the opponent's hp wherever possible to make it easier for Shadowreaper Anduin to seal the deal.

Unfortunately, I've never found a control deck quite like this one after a huge portion of its cards rotated.

I also have to mention even paladin though (the Corpsetaker build, not the super broken day-1 version). My favorite midrange deck of all time. Something about summoning a dude every single turn and buffing them or playing bigger minions alongside it and, again, fighting for the board, was just super satisfying.

I´m having trouble with the last Fantastic Freljord clue:

Anyone up for a round of ARAM?

I figured it has something to do with Runeterra Labs, but visiting the specific Lab´s page doesn´t count.. Any thoughts?

Undertaker Hunter was easily my favourite deck ever. It's hard to get across to people who weren't playing HS at the time how utterly degenerate this deck was. But trust me people, it was a beast.

     Oh, and Merry Christmas!

I had got it but thanks anyway

Patron Warrior was by far the deck I enjoyed the most. Too bad they never unnerfed it.

  • Our Favourite Hearthstone Decks of All-Time

spiteful priest, quest warrior, keleseth rogue, those were good times. Fatigue warrior had a genuine win condition instead of boring the shit out of yourself and others back then.

The ungoro-kobolds era was probably some of the best times I had in hearthstone. Its also perhaps the only time hunter has played something viable that's not aggro or midrange-aggro. I really miss those deathrattle hunter vs taunt druid matches. Only time I can remember having a board full of King Krush.

  • Our Favourite Hearthstone Decks of All-Time

RR's time wasn't bad. The problem was RR's cards weren't really in it. If I remember correctly, most decks would have like 4 cards from RR at most, and even once Ungoro-Kobolds rotated most of its cards were generally unplayable. That's not to say its cards weren't interesting, simply passed over in terms of power level.

Noxus/P&Z aggro is still alive and well, and multiple variants seem to be top tier at the moment: Teemo/Draven, Ezreal/Draven, and Jinx/Draven. If you want something less aggro, Shen/Fiora continues to be a thing as well. Hyper Aggro Endure is also a strong archetype even with a budget, and we had an article about it lately.

My runner-up favourite would be C'Thun Renolock from Gadgetzan era, another expansion meta that people generally don't have the fondest of memories. Both are also "third expansion of the year" metas, maybe I just love variation then (although MSG meta was quite certainly not that diverse, basically pirates vs highlanders).

Ah.... Calvin and Hobbes, I grew up reading their Comic strip. I see you're a person of Culture.

A recent deck Weapon Rogue is my favorite. Got my first Legend with it in September.

I like the mechanics of secrets. Explosive Runes is my favorite secret. Secret mage is my favorite deck and I'm very happy that it's still competitive in the wild mode.

  • Classic cards renewal ?

    Quote From frmorrison

The classic set will be changing in 2022. At a minimum, once some DH cards rotate, the classic set will get some cards (I assume from the existing sets). However, I am not sure about 2021.

I kept thinking for some reason they said that the Demon Hunter classic cards would be set by the new HS year in 2021, but I looked back at the article, and you are right!  The wording threw me off, but it does say that the class gets more class cards during 2020, sounds like it should go down to only 10 like other classes in 2021, but then some time before the new HS year in 2022 they will decide the DH classic cards.

While it does make it more likely that they wait until 2022 to overhaul the entire Classic set, it doesn't guarantee that they will wait.  But if it doesn't happen in April 2021, then April 2022 is very likely!

Regardless of when they do it, I stopped opening Classic packs as soon as they hinted at this being a possibility, hoping to get the full dust value for any and all cards that rotate, and then have a decent amount of packs to get the new cards naturally and saving that dust for other things.  Should work out for me as long as they don't introduce a new pack type with the big changes, like "Core packs" or something.  If that happened I'd be a little upset.

EDIT: If any of you have all the Classic cards, or like me and have all the Classic cards you need/want, you should also stop opening them until a potential set overhaul.

I do wonder if Iksar will head on over there finally. In my mind, I always assumed he'd move over to SD since he felt like that "core" part of Hearthstone that isn't around anymore.

It isn't that I'd like to see him leave Hearthstone, he's one of the more communicative people on the team which is nice to have, I just think he's potentially being held back by Blizzard.

At the moment, the text for Mythgard cards isn't in our database, so yes, definitely something wrong. Huge oversight and we'll have it corrected TBD.

  • Happy Holidays From Second Dinner, Ben Brode's Game Company Levels Up With More Hearthstone Team Talent

If Iksar also quitting, there's surely something wrong going on. Please keep updating these kind of news. Thanks

  • Snowpocalypse

I think there may be something wrong with the card database. For example, earlier I was looking for one of the MTG clues and got it, but then later went to look for it and it was gone, and then just now I am able to find it again. Also, I can type "feast" into the name section for mythgard cards and I get [Hearthstone Card (Miraculous Feast) Not Found], but when I type "heal" into the text section I don't get anything. Even though [Hearthstone Card (miraculous feast) Not Found], among many other cards, has the word "heal" in their text.

    Thanks for the input!
I've been playing for less than 3 weeks and having a hard time resisting the urge to open ikoria packs after the quick drafts.
Will try and get/save as much gems as possible to the sealed events next expansion. But maybe this way I can make a cool and fun deck after its release in january/february.
    Happy holidays!

I loved Even Paladin with Corpsetaker, that deck along with Silver Hand paladin got my Paladin to 500 wins.

  • Snowpocalypse

Ok, I complained earlier today because I had no idea about MtG or Mythgard, so I thought I'd never clear those clues. However, I've just finished all the clues, so it means that someone who has never touched those games can solve everything as long as they think a bit... or just goes to the card list and starts clicking on whatever card feels like it's similar to the sentence like I did xD

  • Our Favourite Hearthstone Decks of All-Time

Did anyone else notice as they were reading how many decks were from the Rastakhan’s Rumble era? For as much as that set is generally disparaged by the community, seems like they (blizzard) must have got something right. I believe it was a pullback in terms of power level versus the sets that immediately preceded it , but I just thought it was interesting that so many folks who contributed are nostalgic for that time.

Just in case you still haven't gotten it, here is a hint:
