Patch 2.4.3: PC Crash Reports - We Need Your Help!

Are you looking for ONLY windows 7 clients with the issue? I ask because I have experienced and replicated a crash caused by fullscreen, alt-tabbing (or swapping from windowed to full screen) using 64-bit client DX11, Nvidia card... just with 64 bit win10 instead of win7.

edit: My game booted initially after the patch and defaulted to a very low resolution, 800x600 or similar. When I swapped gfx options it crashed, and would fail to open giving the "Diablo 3 failed to start direct 3D" every time. I had to use the launcher to reset to default options in order to get back into game. Once back in I updated all gfx settings but left it in windowed fullscreen and it works fine. Swapping to fullscreen will replicate the crash.

For this particular report thread, yes. However, if there's a different issue you are encountering, please feel free to post it in our bug report or technical support forums for assistance or investigation! We're definitely interested, but this is more of a specific issue we're trying to narrow in on.

    Patch 2.4.3: PC Crash Reports

    Nevalistis / Community Manager

    Hey all,

We've received a few scattered reports of crashes from players and we're attempting to hone in on the cause. So far, we've narrowed it down to the following scenario:

    • When using the 64-bit client and DirectX 11

    • While the client is in Fullscreen mode

    • When switching focus from Diablo III to another program (or back again)

If you have encountered a crash in the above scenario, we need your help! Please reply to this thread with your dxdiag results (and please put your results in [code] tags so as to keep the thread tidy). This will help us sort out the issue in a more timely fashion as we identify commonalities between occurrences.

Thanks for your help and your patience as we work to resolve these issues!

Slightly updated this post, as the scenario also includes:

    • Running on Windows 7 (64-bit) machines with an NVIDIA graphics card
