Diablo III Forum Migration – This Summer - Diablo III Forums

    Hey Nev,

    quick couple of questions:

    • Is there a preview of the new "forum" to see what it looks like?
    • Does this also change the profile link overview for Diablo accounts (example)? Specifically:
      • Is the in-game armory now visible instead of "only the currently equipped" characters?
      • Are there any changes regarding the Diablo API (for instance Leaderboard Gear being accessible via the API, etc.)? This is specifically interesting for the third-party sites such as d3planner and diablofans.
    • "you’ll be asked to link your Battle.net name" just to be perfectly clear: This does not refere to one's real name, which is affiliated with one's Battle.Net-Account. It's the "Battle-Tag" you are referring to here, correct?

    Thanks in advance.

I won't have all the answers today, but I sync up with our web team once a week, so I'll see if I can get more info on the noted questions:

    • Check out any other Blizzard forum to get a preview. Diablo is the latest title migrating to the software being used by World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Hearthstone, etc.
    • Going to have to double-check to be sure, but AFAIK, this migration is specific to just our forum software. This isn't a change to the whole of the website or its APIs, just the forums specifically.
    • Correct! Account may have been a better term than Name. Your display name isn't changing, it'll be the same Battle Tag you've always used.

Hey, what happens to our post counters from the old forums? Are they gone forever? I know they don't do much, but it kinda feels like a part of my history thrown away, with 10k or so posts combined across regions.

As someone with an obscene post count that's been previously reset back in 2011, I feel you!

Unfortunately, as they are entirely separate platforms, post count will not be carried over (similar to how existing posts are not being migrated).

Mostly just want to spread the word, since not everyone checks the General forum. I'll do my best to answer any questions in that thread about the upcoming move. :)
