First Look: Challenge Rifts

If competition is the key to this event, why not give significant rewards to the top ranked players per event? Then, at least there's incentive to actually "master" a challenge, rather than pick what looks easiest each week and do it once.

We've certainly heard a lot of this feedback, and that may be something we can investigate in the future. However, distribution based on a new filter like that will most likely require additional tech, so it will have to be evaluated as a potential task.

I've certainly passed this on to our team for consideration, though!

    8 bounty materials...PER WEEK

It's not really meant as a replacement to bounty runs, but if all you're looking for is a satchel of mats, it's (usually) much faster to knock out a Challenge Rift to do an upgrade or two.

We did want an incentive to play, but the real main driving force here is friendly competition. There's something very compelling in challenging your friends to beat your time, sharing your stories, or smugly owning your victory (I'm super guilty of this).

In the office, there's often an exchange of baked goods for best time of the week. It breeds camaraderie, friendly competition, and engagement with one another. We wanted to share this experience with the players - so Challenge Rifts came to fruition.

While we hope you come to enjoy it as much as we have, it might not be a feature for everyone. And that's okay - grab a few free mats once a week and do what suits you best. :)
