Blazing Guardians need to be looked at. No one is talking about them.

I've been thinking about making a post of Blazing Guardians for a long time, but it never really bothered me as much until last night.

A few friends and I were doing 114 1%s until we hit this specific map. We, as many of you would be, were hyped to open up a A5 Battlefields of Eternity map in GR 'cause it almost usually means we'll pass the rift or get a good enough lead to carry over.

We enter the rift and immediately know it's a fail despite the good map. This map is ALWAYS dense.., but we had the wrong type of density..

Blazing fuckin' Guardians.

I immediately started taking a few SS's 'cause now I knew I was going to make a post whether people felt the same way or not.

That's an album with 3 SS. As you can see progressively through the pictures, it was impossible to survive and with all that density, we made absolutely no progress. Mind you, with any other mob-type, we could have been well ahead.

I know some of you will say, "Why didn't you pull less?," but that's just not how Blazing Guardians work. They shoot their stacking fire from a distance and with the current meta of setting up a pack and standing still, you're essentially a sitting duck.

Here's what I propose:

1. Tone down Blazing Guardian damage because it is absolutely ridiculous if the zDPS start struggling with their health and survivability.

OR

2. We will deal with the Blazing Guardian damage, FINE, but at least make it WORTHWHILE for us to kill them. Increase the amount of progression Blazing Guardians give.

That's all. I hope some of you share my pain out there.

EDIT 1: Everyone seems to be so fixated on the one line of my post mentioning meta play and completely disregarding the other points of the post. I agree, I could have picked better words, but I didn't think the community would be so narrow minded as to focus on that one aspect.

This isn't a post about the meta.

I used the meta-play to shine light onto the dangers of Blazing Guardians because of how they stack up their damage and give no progression.

As I proposed, either tone the damage down or give them enough progression and we'll work around the damage if it becomes worth it to kill them.

Please don't take my post and make it something that it's not. If you can't relate to the main point of the post, you can just move on.

Blazing Guardians hurt more than elites and rift Guardians and that's an issue.

This was actually something that got a few mentions a few years back as well.

They are insane, compared to other mob-types. Their damage can (especially if stacked - which tends to happen a lot), outperform the damage of most elites - heck, sometimes even the rift guardians.

Blizzard (or in this case, more specifically, /u/nevalistis ) replied to a previous thread about it - stating it would get passed on to QA, yet nothing since then (no indication of a change on PTR or anything).

Specifically, there was a concern from the community that Blazing Guardians were ignoring armor or resistances. I'll follow up on this; in many cases, once I hand off a bug to our QA department, it's pretty hands-off for me unless a change or hotfix is coming, and sometimes reports can get lost between the cracks.

I think there's some valid feedback in this thread in that these monsters in higher density can be more difficult than other mobs in high density; that's something I can pass on to development as a community concern.
