Hearthstone game dev communicating about expansion & priest on Twitter

For people who keep saying Blizzard isn't communicating, Iksarhs has been replying to most people and having a conversation with people who are @ing him, I think they're just avoiding Reddit for obvious, legitimate reasons.

You can find the replies here: https://twitter.com/IksarHS/with_replies

I think Twitter is fine in most situation but in this community outrage it's not enough as you can't explain any reasoning behind your comments(140 char limit). Like when you say that Priest of the Feast and Bishop are good cards, you aren't able to give an explanation to why you think so.

Everyone has really been dodging the question and just replying with generic answers without giving an actual explanation. I think if Blizzard devs actually gave a reason for the Priest cards it would go along way. Such as why do you think these cards will help Priest? What was the design philosophy when making Purify/Bishop/Feast when Priest is so far behind when compared to every class? What about the rarity of those cards?

Specifically for PriestFeast I think it has the potential to be a bigger swing that it's credited for. 3/6 is hard to deal with and Priest has access to a number of spells to make the trigger happen. Drawing and combo'ing with 2-3 spells on T7-8 can push you completely out of range of a lethal from an aggressive deck and swing you into late-game where you have a large advantage. Been fairly solid in playtesting as just a card to play on curve.

I have a question: how come there's been so few cards with Charge and Windfury in the past few sets? In fact, I think it's Argent Horserider from TGT that was the last Charge minion. Should I ask this question over on Twitter?

Charge cards are a little tricky in that every time we make one players find out the best way to use them is to hold them waiting to combo other cards to deal 15+ damage from hand. Not something we get super excited about ;).

That said, Charge has some cool flavor and feels very Warcraft universe to me. Finding designs for Charge that don't result in mass damage from hand I think is something we'll do in the future. As far as Windfury goes, I don't think there is much preventing us from going there... but is does feel very Shaman as a mechanic and I think we've just been more interested in exploring different designs/mechanics for Shaman than going back to Windfury in the last couple sets.

Blizzard devs are big boys, they can handle skimming through short flaming posts. Look at all the fantastic threads we have on the front page, presenting reasonable arguments, posing reasonable questions, and doing it all politely. It's way too convenient of an excuse to say that Blizzard is avoiding ALL of these fantastic posts, like these, because they are daunted by flaming comments.

Trust me, Blizzard would rather handle a hundred mindless flames than ONE well thought out post that they couldn't possibly rebuke.

There are lots of good discussions on both sites. Lots of good discussions on the official forums as well. It's not really necessary or helpful to rebuke anyone's comments, just to have a discussion.

You can't actually answer the questions people are asking in 140 characters.

I still like using Twitter. It's been a pretty effective place to have a conversation even though the character limit exists. For answers that take more than 140 characters I'm usually here or will just spam out 3-4 messages back to back.

I pity for this guy cause he is probably texting everytime for the PR people to make the most generic answers ever or he is actually graduated on PR and does it with a straight face, while wanting to rage about every question he is sent.

Lol, I'm glad that isn't the case. I like talking about Hearthstone and even when feedback is critical when you get internet face to internet face with someone people tend to be fairly reasonable and just want the game to consistently get better (like we all do). There is some amount of being careful with what you say but it's not usually because there is a giant list of things that are off-limits. It's just because it's important to convey the right message and let people know T5 cares about the game and community. When you are making 50-100 responses in a day sometimes one response comes off in a way you didn't intend. It's usually that one that gets broadcast out for everyone to see. It's not the end of the world, though. It's important to be around to discuss things with a community so passionate about the game.
