A tournament mode would be AMAZING!

I would really love to see a tournament mode introduced to matchmaking. It could work just like the championships you see on twitch. You'd pick 4 decks you want to play with, the opponent would ban 1 of the 4 decks, and the first player to win 3 matches (once with each of their decks) wins the set and moves on. Of course this could take a while depending on how many people are in the bracket. But if its a bracket of only 16 individuals it wouldn't take too long at all. There would be 4 potential sets for each participant. If a participant manages to win the whole tournament they would have won a total of 12 matches. Most likely they would have lost a few matches along the way. For simplicity lets say they lost an average of 1.5 matches per set, so that would mean they lost 6 matches total in the whole tournament, meaning they played a total of 18 matches. If the matches took on average 10 minutes each, that would mean it took 180 minutes total for them to win the tournament. Which really isn't that bad. I'm sure a lot of us have had longer play sessions in hearthstones ranked mode. And again that's how long it would take if you went on to win the whole tournament. Of course not every set would finish at exactly the same time. Someone would have to wait for their next opponent to finish their set. In this case you could maybe be allowed to go back to the menu and receive a notification when your match is ready. Or maybe you could enter a chat room with the other participants who are finished. As far as entry it could work just like arena, 150 gold to enter. And the further you make it in the tournament the better the reward. So if you don't have the time it could potentially take, don't enter. I hope blizzard finds this post and realizes how much greater it would make the already great game that is hearthstone.

A more simple solution would be a type of 'constructed arena' that would use the best of 3 or best of 5 format with bans. This would allow you to use a lineup and just match you against someone with the same record, eliminating the need for waiting around for other people 'in your bracket'. Keeps play session timing in control of the player.

I've thought about this quite a bit. I think the even simpler version would be to be able to match against any opponent with the same record every game, then skip the ban. Meaning you are still in a series, but not against one person's lineup. You lose some of the tournament feel of beating someone else's lineup, but the minimum play session remains one game at a time. I'm not sure adding a mode like this is necessary for Hearthstone, but I think it's useful to discuss what is the best potential format for such a feature. Keeping the minimum play sessions short (ideally one game) and the wait times short are fairly important from my perspective.
