I'm completely addicted, but I am also terrible at this game

I've been playing for about 2 months now and I've broken rank 17 twice. I use the deck helper to make my decks because I seem to do better that way vs creating my own. I've tried recreating decks I find online but I don't have enough dust to create all those legendaries so I usually make my own substitutions. Idk what to do I figured I would get better with time but it seems like when I go on a winning streak I immediately go on a greater loosing streak. I've watched all of trumps teachings and I like to think I have a decent understanding of the game mechanics EDIT: I've read a lot of similar threads on here but I'm not finding any helpful advice so that's why I'm posting this, I've used my resources EDIT2: wow this subreddit is full of actually nice people trying to help, one of the first I've seen, so thanks everyone for the help Second, I really like shaman, any good basic decks you could recommend?

Also Zetalot, he plays only priest. So if you like to play Priest, Zetalot is probably your choice.

Yep, we all watch Zetalot a bunch he's a great player.

What I tell most of my friends trying to get better, the issue is almost never the amount of cards you have or don't have in your collection. Especially in the rank range you describe. Outside of picking one deck to master, try to get a higher ranked friend to spectate your game or just watch a streamer that is trying to explain what they are doing. Dog, Hotform, Reynad all come to mind when thinking about players that play one deck for a long duration. Try to figure out what you would do each turn, and see what they do differently. Just from experience teaching others in the rank 15-20 range... you are going to find 50% of more of the turns they play differently than you would. It's sort of a fun experiment, and you can get a clear idea of how far off you are from making all the correct decisions.

Also, after re-reading this there was one more thing I wanted to note. The ideal (keyword ideal) answer to 'how do I get better' is never going to be 'do something that is not playing hearthstone'. I think it's an acceptable answer but we can certainly do better than that and are always thinking about ways to do it. How do you teach someone core concepts of Hearthstone? How do you teach someone the nuances of deckbuilding? How do you make these features awesome and fun, and useful long-term? These are all challenges that we think about quite a bit, and always bouncing ideas around in the office.
