Hearthstone Emergency Maintenance - May 8th, 2014

Well met!

We're currently bringing the Hearthstone service down for emergency maintenance due to some unforeseen issues with the 1.0.0.5314 patch. We are very sorry if this disconnected you from your current games in progress! We always like to give ample notice to our players when we're planning on bringing down the Hearthstone servers, but we were unable to do so in this particular case.

Thank you for your patience, and we will provide updates as soon as we are able!

(13:06 PDT)

(14:06 PDT) Hearthstone is now once again available for play in the Americas and Europe regions. Thank you for your patience as we addressed this issue!

They've patched it with zero downtime before with no issues, so this wasn't a new "experiment".

This is true. It's not an issue with the patching functionality.

No achievement will be implemented in this patch. You can view our current patch notes here.

Why not also allow players to have a local copy of their cards and decks for local practice games and deck building experiments? Any modifications to these decks wouldn't be uploaded to the servers so that will avoid any attempted hacks. That way people can at least practice when the servers are down.

While probably not impossible, storing information client side would take up significantly more memory, and we have to keep devices like iPad, iPhone and Android in mind. And take significantly more development time. It's something we've heard feedback on, but creating new content for our players to enjoy and new platforms to enjoy it on is a priority.

Why not let us practice when servers are down? What about that mode makes it disabled if servers are down?

All of your info, like your card collection, is saved on our side. So if our stuff goes down, you can't access your card collection or the Hearthstone database.

Thank the Gods! I thought it was just me having trouble. Any time-horizon on this?

Working on a fix as we speak, no updates yet. We don't want Hearthstone to be down any longer than necessary!

Why not apply the initial patch during scheduled downtime, like in WoW? Instead of randomly during the day.

This patch was intended to be applied without downtime, so players would automatically patch with the Battle.net Desktop App and not experience a disruption in game play.

...and then the Fire Nation attacked.
