Knights of the Frozen Throne Facts

A lot of people don't seem to bother using the Reddit Search to get the answers they are looking for. As a result new threads get created asking the same questions. This post is meant to reduce the number of threads asking the same things and so everyone who is confused on the recent changes can see what they are.

Knights of the Frozen Throne Facts

Alternate Hero Skins do not have Death Knight variations of their own. If you play a Hero card whole using an Alternate Hero Skin, you turn into a Deathknight Classic Hero of the Hero Card you played.

• Example: If you are playing the Hunter class with the Alleria alternate Skin, and you play the Deathstalker Rexxar Hero Card, you will become Deathstalker Rexxar.

No expansions rotate out with the introduction of Knights of the Frozen Throne or the expansion that will come out after Knights of the Frozen Throne. Expansions only rotate out upon the release of the first expansion of each year.

• Example: Un'goro was the first set to release in 2017, so the sets of 2015 (Blackrock Mountain, The Grand Tournament, League of Explorers) rotated out of standard. In 2018 with the first set release, the sets of 2016 (Whispers of the Old Gods, One Night in Karazhan, Mean Streets of Gadgetzan) will rotate out.

Knights of the Frozen Throne does not have a confirmed release date yet.

Knights of the Frozen Throne Missions

Starting with the Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion, free missions will be released with upcoming expansions.

There is a Prologue and 8 bosses that are divided into 2 wings. This is a similar format to the adventures.

All of this PvE content is free, however not all of it is released at the same time. Like Adventures, only one thing is available at the start and more gets released the following week.

For completing the missions, by the end I believe you can earn 3 card packs. For completing just the Prologue, you earn a free random Deathknight Hero Card. For defeating the Lich King with all 9 classes, you unlock the Arthas Hero Portrait for the Paladin class

Pack Changes

When Knights of the Frozen Throne releases, you are guaranteed a legendary within your first 10 opened packs. If you have not opened packs from a previous expansion before like Un'goro then in your first 10 packs you are guaranteed a legendary. This 10 packs = 1 guaranteed legendary rule will apply to all future expansions.

If you have opened any packs from a previous expansion like Un'goro, even if it was just 1 pack, then you are not guaranteed a free legendary within 10 packs of Un'goro when Knights of the Frozen Throne releases and pack changes are applied.

if you own a legendary, you will not open that legendary again in the pack belonging to its set unless you own every legendary from that set. Meaning anytime you open a legendary card it will always be one you do not own until you own them all. This applies to Golden legendaries as well. If you own a normal legendary you will not open a golden one in a pack.

Golden Edit: Golden and Normal Legendaries are treated the same. You are not guaranteed one or the other, when you open a legendary it could be either.

Extra Edit: Welcome Bundles, Arena, Packs, Any place you can get a legendary, it will follow these rules and only give you one you do not have. Unless you own them all already in which case it will be random.

You will no longer open more than two duplicate cards in a single pack. For example, if you opened an Un'goro pack, and there are multiple copies of Fire Fly, there will only ever be 2 copies of it in a single pack. This does not mean that if you own 2 copies of Fire Fly already, that you will not open more. This just means that in any given pack you won't open 3 Fire Fly cards at a time.

Misc Information

A CARD REVEAL SCHEDULE ISN'T SHARED WITH US! People ask when another card is revealed but the only people that know that are Blizzard^TM and anyone partnered with them to reveal a card at a specific time. It is upto the partner if they want to announce earlier when they are revealing their card or to just reveal it when the time comes.

If you play Frost Lich Jaina, Damage dealt from Elementals in any form should heal you with lifesteal. That includes cards like Fire Plume Phoenix, Anomalus, Ragnaros, and more.

No info on how Frost Lich Jaina and lifesteal effects will work with Hallazeal the Ascended.

When a minion is frozen, it will be unfrozen at the end of the owner's turn if the minion could have otherwise attacked that turn. Meaning if you're own minion can attack and you choose to freeze it and buff it with Cryostasis, then it will be unfrozen at the end of your turn. If you attack and then freeze it, it will not be unfrozen until the end of your next turn.

Jaraxxus is not a Hero Card. He's a minion whose Battlecry removes himself from your board and then turns your hero into Jaraxxus.

Dreadsteed is being nerfed.

Have not found confirmation that Spreading Plague, or Defile or any other cards that recast, have their additional recasts count towards Yogg-Saron. My bet is they do not though.
