Blizzard really needs to fix the iOS bug

For those of you who did not know there is currently a bug on iOS where of you click an action of your opponents it crashes the game. This means you have to reload it and hope you get to reconnect. I cannot tell you how infuriating it is to be so far ahead and then accidentally click on something because of muscle memory and lose it all.

I know i could "just not click on it" but in the heat of a game it's easy to forget your self restraint when you've conditioned yourself over the course of years.

Rant over.

The fix for this is on the way. If all goes well the optional patch will be available for everyone very soon.

In the meantime, a work around is to keep your hand of cards minimized. The crash occurs specifically when your hand is up AND you click on the opponent's played card.

    Sorry for the inconvenience guys!

This one is unfortunately an engine issue and we've been holding off on the engine upgrade because it's a chunk of work. We are planning on it later in the year though. Sorry about this!

Is this iOS? Hmm. Haven't heard of this one before.

This optional patch addresses some authentication issues as well. DM me your BattleTag please and I'll have the ops team confirm you fit in this category. Thank you!

The engine upgrade is expected to alleviate the "rainbow glitch" as well. But we are still in the process of confirming this.

Yeah, this is a related engine issue.

We make a patch optional if it doesn't prevent you from playing the game. It just gives players more choice.

    Branching wise it's part of the auto merge chain. 7.1 -> 7.1.1 -> 8.0.

Optional patch just means players can keep logging in and play without taking 7.1.1.

What platform are you on? The delta patch should have been very small. How many megs did you end up patching?

If you download the latest version of the app this should no longer happen.

So... Three years on from the glitch starting and 5 MONTHS on from the 'update engine', still nothing.

Blizzard has decided to continually delete my comments proving help for users with the crash on how to obtain a refund (see below). Maybe instead of deleting this, sort out the issue/reply to users on the forum/PROVIDE SUPPORT. ———————— This issue is beyond ridiculous now. Blizzard refuse to answer offer any support and this has been an ongoing issue for an ongoing number of YEARS now. It is well documented here on their forums and clearly there is no active research into and development into solving the issue. Bizarrely, the app is still available for Mac and there is no warning into the gameplay before downloading or playing, but users can still spend their hard earned money on expansions and decks with these KNOWN ongoing issues. Blizzard are clearly ignoring this issue.

A helpful note for users: For users who have this ongoing issue (so every Mac user?) and have purchased any in-game items through your Apple account, you can claim back this money straight away by going to
reportaproblem.apple.com
and selecting the purchase from the list and reporting that the game does not work as advertised by Blizzard. Note the crashes and note the total lack of support - Apple will refund your purchase, usually within a few hours - and you are WELL within your right to do this.

A helpful note for Blizzard: Mac users have reported this issue, relentlessly, providing crash logs, system reports and hardware information. You have continued to do NOTHING about this issue and still expect users to PAY money for a service which falls below inadequate. This is completely unacceptable and you need to do something about this, because you have lost users from this and will not only use more (who would recommend the game to friends, who would continue to buy expansions and decks) but will also receive chargebacks which you cannot resolve in your favour because you are continuing to let users pay money for something which does not work as advertised.

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the inconvenience.

We are not ignoring this issue. It turns out that the type of engine upgrade we have to do to resolve the issue is not insignificant amount of work and introduces fair amount of risk.

We have a fix that we have some confidence will resolve the issue. It involves switching to Metal on Mac and something we have been testing. I hope for us to get this fix out in the near future.

In the mean time, if the bug is making the game unplayable on your device and want to cease to play the game until the issue is resolved, I understand your position. Sorry again and hope to have you back when the issue is resolved.
