If Classic is our evergreen set, all of its legendaries deserve an animation!

Pretty much title, even the Thalnos one is a nice touch, would love to see the rest brought up to Deathwing and even Black Knights level.

/u/czhihong and /u/Scrawly have already covered most of what I would have said [https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/71ak6e/if_classic_is_our_evergreen_set_all_of_its/dn9b159/](here) and [https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/71ak6e/if_classic_is_our_evergreen_set_all_of_its/dn9c9e8/](here), so give them your karma. :)

But yeah - I definitely agree that all legendaries should get animations, and I really hope that it'll happen eventually, even if I am a slowpoke about it. Legendary entrances are kind of a funny one because they don't really add much directly to gameplay (hell, they slow it down a bit, we just have to try and make sure the show is worth the slow), so when the schedule gets tight I sometimes get funny looks for being so insistent that these non-gameplay-relevant FX don't get cut. But statistically, every one of these legendaries is going to be someone's favorite (someone's going to snark me for saying that, but oh well :P), and I hate the idea that their card is the one getting left out in the cold.

As far as classic legendaries specifically, I'm trying to mostly roughly get them updated in order of how much play they see, unless there's one I'm super excited about (because I'm still an overgrown kid).

Sure, it doesn't add to gameplay, it enhances gameplay experience, and enjoyment of these cards. What ever happened to the Blizzard polish.

Yeah I phrased that poorly, sorry - it's not that anyone's randomly coming over to my desk like "Hadidjah, we've going to cut things, pick which of your children shall die!", it's that I'm currently the only dedicated FX Artist (FX Artists are weirdly rare - we're getting a second one soon after ten months of looking and I'm so excited) and the schedule is always pretty down to the wire, so there's usually a point where someone will ask me what I think we should cut just in case we do run out of time. We haven't actually had to cut an effect while I've been working here, which I'm really grateful for, because there's never anything I want to cut. :)

But I 100% agree on it enhancing the game and enjoyment even if it doesn't directly communicate much, so I still like to file it under Gameplay First. ;)

btw something i was wondering, did you make the new deathwing animation based on how it looks in the hearth and home video? or was it the other way around :p

Haha, I honestly wonder that second half too. I made the Deathwing entrance well before I'd seen any of Hearth and Home's Derpwing, but I haven't worked up the nerve to ask Animation if they based it on mine or if that's just where everyone's mind naturally goes when it comes to Deathwing entrances.

But I like to think they totally copied me, so I can feel like a baller.

Hold up, all the legendary animations and spell effects are made exclusively by you right now? :|

Not exclusively - I'm the only one doing it full time, so I do the majority of them, but the art team has a couple of really talented generalists (the ones who used to split up all the FX between themselves before I started) who'll jump in and help out when the schedule's getting tight. John Zwicker always grabs up some pieces once he's done working on the boards (he's done some of my absolute favorites, like Arfus, Hadronox, and Grapplehammer), and Becca Abel's done a lot of amazing things with the Adventure FX work in particular (she did the Karazhan in-game 'cutscenes' and a lot of the final Lich King fight FX, amongst other many things). It's really fun getting to work with them - we all approach FX a little differently and seeing what they come up with and swapping ideas is a blast. :D
