Mechanic Discussion: ADAPT
So according to the announcement video that came out today, the Un'Goro expansion will include a new keyword mechanic called "Adapt." This keyword will allow you to Discover (choose from 3) an enhancement like additional Attack, Windfury, or Taunt to add to your minion.
There are 10 options that you can choose from each time you adapt. Here are the ones shown in the video:
- Liquid Membrane - Can't be targeted by spells or Hero Powers.
- Flaming Claws - +3 Attack
- Crackling Shield - Divine Shield
- Living Spores - Deathrattle: Summon two 1/1 Plants.
- Massive - Taunt
- Lightning Speed - Windfury
- Volcanic Might - +1/+1
- Rocky Carapace - +3 Health
- Shrouding Mist - Stealth until your next turn
- Poison Spit - Destroy any minion damaged by this one (The Emperor Cobra/Pit Snake ability)
The video showed a minion with Battlecry: Adapt, so I suppose it's possible that not every Adapt card will be a minion with Battlecry. For example, a spell could make all of your minions Adapt, which would be pretty wild. I could also see them releasing one of the new Quest cards encouraging "adaptations."
So how do we feel about the new mechanic? Is the pseudo-RNG going to work out? Are the adaptations shown so far well-balanced?
EDIT: Thanks to u/LegendaryFerret we have the last four adaptations now. I added them up above.
