I'm completely new to Hearthstone and I keep getting completely overrun by Demon Hunter. How can I keep up the pace when I feel his cards are way better than mine?

I downloaded Hearthstone yesterday and am completely new to the game. I chose to stick with Mage as I have the most cards unlocked because I had to use it to unlock other classes.

Every time I face a Demon Hunter, I feel like it's a completely one-sided game. I can't seem to get minions out fast enough, and if I do, he always seems to find a way to clear it through a card called 'Twin Slice'.

After making it to Rank 33, I've almost completely given up on trying to beat Demon Hunters and just surrender. I just cannot keep up. Even after watching some guides on YouTube following fundamental concepts such as board control, the concept of 'It's not a race to get your opponent to 0' etc.. And trying to apply it against Demon Hunter, I just get completely outpaced.

How do I go about getting packs and cards when I can't seem to beat, what seems to be, the most broken and popular class at my level? Any advice would be appreciated.

I didn't realise the consensus was that he was overpowered, but looking at the front page that seems to be the case.

Fear not! I hope these pictures are proof enough that I'm relatively new. (I created an account yesterday!)

Here's a couple of cheap recommendations that should improve your quality of life against DH pretty significantly!

Blazing Battlemage: Neutral Common card from Descent of Dragons. DH is all about tempo, so if you can keep up with them in the early game you'll be more likely to get to the late game which is where Mage's strength lies.

Deep Freeze: Mage Rare card from Ashes of Outland. This will help lock down the DH hero from attacking which shuts off a lot of their powerful triggers.

Flame Ward: Mage Common card from Saviors of Uldum. Strong secret that can help you clear a DH board and stabilize going into the mid game where you want to play Water Elemental.

Once you make it out of the new player ranks you'll receive a free competitive deck, and I would definitely recommend the Mage if you're enjoying the class so far.

    Good luck!
